README

Improved Vanilla Music

Mod collab with RockOn!
Light-weight audio pack that attempts to improve the base game's music using ModAudio's features and some scripting. This pack does not include any audio, instead referencing audio from the game and hence is weightless!

  • All my ModAudio route files and scripts will be made available at Github under CC BY-NC-SA. Filled with comments
  • If you need to contact me, you can use the ATLYSS Modding Central Discord server or my thread in there. I prefer pings than DMs, thanks

List of features

2 Customisable toggles prefixed with IVM. Suggest using EasySettings.

  • 1-IVM: Improved Vanilla Music (Loops all unlooped tracks and subregion music)
  • 2-IVM: Easter Egg (Off by default: RockOn said this may be annoying to some, so I made it an easter egg)

Added music to the subregions (or sub-zones) using songs from the game files and referencing them via ModAudio to stay light-weight.

  • Church of the Elders now plays music_whisper, the song played after dungeon bosses are defeated
  • Crescent Cove now plays mu_nouCove, an unused track in the files
  • Ammagon's Hut now plays _mu_tired, an unused track in the files
  • Redwoud now plays _mu_lethargy, an unused track in the files
  • Sanctum Catacombs and Crescent Grove now play the ambient music of their dungeon counterparts

These were made compatible to also play when its night!
Added tracks to zones that were originally mute.

  • Crescent Road now plays the same music as Crescent Keep
  • Luvora Garden now plays _mu_sailex during day and _mu_discover04 at night, more unused tracks from the files
  • Gate of the Moon now plays _mu_beaver during day and _mu_discover05 at night, even more unused tracks from the files
  • Executioner's Tomb now has a 50/50 chance to either play _mu_hell01 (OG) or _mu_hell02 (new). Arena music is available thanks to ModAudio!

Credits

  • Kiseff: All music used in this mod is referenced locally from the game and belongs to Kiseff, developer of ATLYSS
  • RockOn: We were learning ModAudio's advanced features together and I decided to revive this idea from months ago. Credits for creating the icon, playtesting the pack, and providing suggestions. Mod page
  • Marioalexsan: Creator of ModAudio, implementing many of the feature requests I had that are used in this pack. Taught us how to use the library and also Lua, troubleshooting and verifying our route files for us as well. Mod page
  • Zera: I directly referenced their Lua script file for subregion music from Zera Atlyss Remix and made a mega-one for my purpose. Mod page
  • Miss Monster: My primary motivation for just about everything since joining the ATLYSS community. She's the reason I kept my motivation to work with ModAudio and start learning Lua. Credited for assistance in picking out tracks and feedback. Mod page <3

Compatibility

This pack was designed for game version 112025.a4 using ModAudio V4.1.2 and does not locally contain any music. If any major changes were to be made such as to the map, how the game handles music, or the music files referenced, then this pack may suffer compatibility issues in the future.

Due to the nature of ModAudio, the subregion music won't be able to play unless my route is playing, so if another pack is using the same routes and theirs plays over mine without any subregion scripts, then no unique music will be played when near the sub-zone, This is just how ModAudio fairness works so nothing to be done. Only time I see this being a potential issue is Ithra's Vanilla Music Pack which simply references the original music used for the zones, though their pack is also way different in purpose than mines anyway.
