Descent Official Starting Guide

Introduction to Descent (Yukidown)

Hello and welcome to the wiki! This will be a short guide on where to start, what to expect, and how to follow the (barebones) story of Descent for your first time playing. Don't forget to follow my feedback thread for news, updates and more!

Where to Begin the Journey

The main rundown Descent features a total of 13 levels that feature a set of connected objectives as you progress deeper in and offers a variety of eventful experiences. Levels are not locked behind progression if you do not want to proceed the levels in order.

My recommendation as of Version 0.7.0, for a more easier and casual playthrough into the rundown, start with A2: Awakening. For a more comfortable introduction in terms of difficulty, start with A1: Redirection

What to Expect in Yukidown

The rundown offers a neat selection of both enhanced vanilla and custom weapons made by me. Sentries were given a slight buff at the cost of lower tool in certain expeditions and melee weapons will be going through various stat balancing in the future. It is advised to try out every gun and checkmark your preferences.

Each level will have something unique to them, and tier ranking may or may not set an estimated difficulty level for each one, e.g. B3 may be easier than B2 for certain teams.

As the rundown receives updates, there will be a small amount of custom assets (scans, enemies) added in for more flavor. This will not deviate from the vanilla formula and simply enhances the experience.

How to Follow the Story of Descent

Currently, there are no lore logs to follow the previous events of Descent and will be implemented during the 1.0 release. The levels of Descent are split into two categories: Main and Extended

Main levels, not marked by ://ext tag is the present day timeline of which you and your team members of Astral-13 were sent to evaluate and contain important key infrastructures within the complex and piece together what went wrong and the details on the missing Astral-02 team. But don't get too comfortable, it seems as if there's another "being" controlling the scenes behind the curtains...

Extended levels, marked by ://ext tag occurs shortly before Astral-13, offers a compelling but short-lived journey around the missing Astral-02 team after they were sent in and witnessed a string of past memories and ended up in a twisted fate for answers.
