The FNAB-43 was created in the Republic of Salo puppet state as an attempt to replace the Beretta Model 38; it uses the same magazines but is a closed bolt gun. It ended up being more expensive, so fewer numbers were made. Somehow several guns ended up in Algeria after the war.
