After the Chinese Civil War, a wide variety of surplus firearms from WWII found their way into various units, and were adapted per local demands, until domestic factories started producing new patterns of firearms.
With a huge surplus of US-Supplied Thompsons, many were converted after the war to be compatible with PPSh-41 pattern magazines after being supplied by the Soviets.
