The Valmet M78 was a Finnish export variant of the AK family of rifles chambered in 7.62x51mm; the M78/83S was specifically created as a sharpshooter variant, including a thumbhole stock reminiscent of the Dragunov. Valmet rifles were commonly used in Hollywood in the 1980s alongside Egyptian AKs as standins for genuine Russian AKs.
