Militech Int'l Armaments & Arasaka Weapons Manufacturing - Submachine Guns

Six total variants of the Arasaka and Militech SMG platforms, including two Iconic variants with unique functions. Both platforms are chambered in the Militech 10mm "Equinox" cartridge.

Arasaka Shigure

Initially created as a supplementary weapon for Arasaka's close personal security details in the early 21st century, the Shigure was built to be a somewhat simple and reliable compact submachine gun, while still boasting the typical 'Saka design philosophy of elegance in lethality. Even now, decades later, the Shigure is still a staple firearm amongst 'Saka field agents, and due to under-the-table sales to mercs and gangers, the Shigure has also seen plenty of use in the streets of Night City.

The Iconic "Reaver" variant of the Shigure is one that's been reworked and repainted by the Wraiths group of Raffen Shiv nomads. Using parts salvaged from different tech firearms, the Reaver is a barely-stable pile of parts and wires assembled together to loosely resemble a tech SMG. Featuring an info screen and charge rails salvaged from a Rostović shotgun and the wiring & battery from a Tsunami Defense Systems sniper rifle, the Reaver is capable of fully charging the bolted on electromagnets in under a second, before unleashing a fully automatic hail of supercharged bullets. These Shiv modifications result in a much higher muzzle velocity, allowing for much flatter trajectories and allowing it to penetrate higher tiers of armor, while sacrificing controllability, trigger response.. and class.

Militech M221 Saratoga

Later on in 21st century, Militech developed a more modern version built on the same platform, the M221 Saratoga. Designed instead with mass production and budget in mind, the Saratoga is built with lighter and less elegant materials than its predecessor, now boasting a skeletonized injection molded polymer two piece receiver in place of the Shigure's AV-grade aluminum and polymer receivers. The Saratoga was adopted as an answer to Militech's need of a modular and plentiful versatile piece for their close quarters urban and vehicle fighting arsenal. Unfortunately, these very characteristics also made the Saratoga ideal for the gangers outside of Corpo Plaza..

The Iconic "Fenrir" version is one such instance of the Saratoga falling into the (more) wrong hands. Much like the particularly savage band of Watson District Maelstromers who were previously in possession of it, this piece has seen a bit of an ugly face lift. Through Maelstrom's tech magic, the Fenrir is capable of firing at a blisteringly high rate of fire, whilst simultaneously converting any rounds fired through it into highly incendiary projectiles, likely to incinerate any unfortunate gonk that manages to stumble into its iron sights. This comes at a cost however, as the superheated projectiles have a much lower muzzle velocity, severely dampening its medium range capabilities, and due to the immense heat generation, the Fenrir is susceptible to rapid accuracy degradation and regular misfires. The quick and dirty Maelstrom rattlecan paint job is also of.. questionable taste, at best.
