Galand M1870
Patented in 1868, the French Galand revolver is an extreme departure from traditional revolver design. For example, the Galand was one of the earliest double-action revolver designs, but the resultingly heavy trigger pull made it questionably useful. It is chambered in a short 11mm cartridge with a thick rim, and not for no reason - the Galand's unusual reloading mechanism retains unfired cartridges while dumping the spent rounds, which is quite convenient. But how do you actually reload it? Grab and crank the large lever that makes up the trigger guard, of course!
