Pikmoons Scrap

A Pikmin-themed custom scrap mod, with nearly 500 scrap based on ship parts, treasures, fruit, characters, and other collectibles/interactables from the Pikmin series and adjacent properties.

If you'd like to check out the moons these go with, head on over here!

If you have a themed moon you'd like these scrap items to show up on, simply add the "pikmin" tag to make them show up with a spawn weight of 50 by default.

This mod uses DawnLib, so custom weights can be changed in the config. (Details towards the bottom of this page.)

Scrap:

Map Prop Scrap and Pellets:

Pellets

Every growable Pikmin type has a pellet of each type (besides glow pikmin).
Pikmin prioritize bringing them to the onion, so if you want cash from them, you'll have to carry them back yourself.
5, 10, and 20 pellets can be found on top of their larger counterparts in Pikmoons moons.

Map Prop Scrap

These are scrap that can mainly be found by interacting with Pikmoons' map props, such as berries, spray and nectar drops, and clamclamp pearls.
Bomb Rocks are especially useful, and destructive! Be careful!

Pikmin 1:

Ship Parts

Each one of the S.S. Dolphin's ship parts are in this mod. Some of them make noise, others are animated, and some of the larger parts are heavier and two-handed.

A something-something-scale replica of the S.S. Dolphin! It even moves and sounds the same.

Pikmin 2:

Treasures

The previous mod that covered the treasures, PikminScrap, is now deprecated.
Since that is the case, 196 of the 201 treasures from Pikmin 2 can now be found in this mod, instead.
The other 5 treasures are already contained within the Pikmin 3 fruit scrap.

Hocotate Ship Replicas

Rusty's got two forms, so there are two sets of replicas; the pods, and the full ships. Both are animated and have sound, and they may talk to you when you carry them; they yap quite a lot.

Handheld Enemy Scrap

Turns out, some enemies are friendly! Male sheargrubs, female sheargrubs, shearwigs, and bulborb larvae can be found as scrap items. Three of them are aggressive and can be used to bite enemies, and the fourth can be cradled like the baby it is.

Pikmin 3:

Fruits, Key Items, and Other

Every fruit from Pikmin 3 is here, including some golden fruit worth more. The Slapstick Crescent is good for slapping, and you can even whack enemies with a signpost. Most of the scrap from Pikmin 3 are fruit, but there are some exceptions. (macarons, dodge whistle, mushrooms, weapons) The dodge whistle and deployable bounceshroom have unique controls/interactions, try them out for new movement options!

Pikmin 4:

Misc. Items

No treasures for now, but other collectibles are here. Raw material, its clay-ball form, and glow pellets are normal scrap. Scrummy bones attract dogs, so watch out!
Firestarters can be thrown to ignite! Giants especially hate them, for good reason.

Every trophy from Super Smash Bros. Melee and Brawl that references the pikmin series is available as scrap, totaling 22.

Installation

The moon and all its dependencies should automatically install when using your mod manager of choice (Thunderstore, r2modman, Gale).

For manual installation, install BepInEx, DawnLib, and drag and drop all files in the .zip into a separate folder in plugins.

All players are required to have this mod and dependencies installed in order to be able to join the lobby at all.

Config

I don't use Gale or the Thunderstore mod manager, so this section will only cover r2modman, however the process should be very similar on other platforms.

The config can be accessed by clicking "Config Editor" on the left, and searching "Pikmoons". r2modman config editor visual.

The config is split into roughly the same categories as seen on the mod page. Each section can be disabled as a whole, or each individual scrap can be configured.

Each scrap has separate moon, interior, and weather spawn weights. To add any specific spawn weights, you need the "namespace:key" combo.

For example, vanilla moons' namespace:key combo is "lethal_company:vanilla". (I think right now only the key is strictly required, but I'd include both if you know them, for future-proofing if nothing else.)

Moon scrap weights are filled in automatically when the config is generated, with only the values below:

The number after the equals sign is added/subtracted to the scrap's spawn-weight when in the respective moon/interior/weather. Higher spawn-weight means it spawns more frequently, and vanilla scrap ranges from 0-100 weight.

All of the Pikmoons moons have the "Pikmin" tag, so you can just modify the default number after that tag to customize weights for my Pikmin moons.

If you add new tags to the config, be sure to add a comma between entries, like the default.

To edit all scrap weights at once, Find and Replace is your friend. I generally use Notepad++, as such: Notepad++ Find and Replace example.

If you're unsure what tag to use to make the scrap spawn on a particular mod's content, check the documentation of the mod to see what tags it has.

Version 1.1.0

  • It's a doozy, with the most scrap ever added to the mod at once by far! The amount of scrap in this mod now totals almost 500!

  • I have contacted Pikmanfan2002, creator of PikminScrap, which is now outdated, and they gave their permission for me to add the treasure scrap that mod had to my mod! (I didn't technically need permission, but I didn't want to overlap and step on their toes if they planned to update their mod in the future.)

  • PIKMIN 2 NEW SCRAP: Due to above, 196 treasures from Pikmin 2 have been added! (Treasures such as Citrus Lump and Cupid's Grenade are already covered by Pikmin 3 fruits.)

  • PIKMIN 3 NEW SCRAP: SS Drake Replica and SPERO Replica.

  • HEY PIKMIN! NEW SCRAP: Every treasure has been added.

  • ALL scrap previously contained within the main Pikmoons mod has been migrated to this mod, to stop strange behavior in orbit and on other moons. (pretty sure I did this a few updates ago, but never put it in a changelog, woopsies)

  • Due to above, you can now find things such as Nectar, Berries, and Spectralid Corpses in interiors.

  • ALL SCRAP has been migrated from LLL to Dawnlib, to allow for direct configuration of spawn weights by users.

  • LLL has been removed as a dependency, and DawnLib has taken its place. (not that it matters much, you still need LLL for the main Pikmoons mod)

  • The swap to Dawnlib means Pikmoons Scrap should be much less common on Vanilla maps by default, rather than being almost every scrap spawned like before.

  • All scrap that has a Pikmin carry weight in the games now has a matching carry weight in this mod.

  • The changelog has been reversed to the proper direction, so that more recent changes are at the top.

  • The Bulborb Trophy scrap no longer shows its model while pocketed. (woops, forgot a checkbox)

  • Rusty Hocotate Pod Replica and Golden Rusty Hocotate Pod Replica scrap prefabs have been restructured, to alleviate some buggy appearances of animations.

  • The spinning animation of all smash trophy scrap items now stops when the scrap is dropped.

  • The Firestarter (Pikmin 4) scrap now properly damages enemies again. (Note that the Firestarter and Flare Cannon currently damage all pikmin, regardless of type, so be careful where you aim them.)

  • Glow Pellets' materials are now slightly transparent.

  • Very old scrap like Nectar and Berries have been made more in-line with newer scrap. (replacing root mesh collider with a box collider, replacing vanilla item script with itolib script, root scale normalization etc.)

  • Spicy and Bitter berries no longer have a metallic effect on their materials (not quite sure why I did that in the first place?), and now have more smoothness.

  • Scan nodes on spectralid corpses have been enlarged and centered.

  • The glowing material in the cracks of bomb rocks now uses the texture as an emission map, as opposed to the previous solid color. (looks way better imo)

  • The glowing material in the cracks of bomb rocks now swaps to a brighter version when it lands, to even more clearly signal that it is primed.

  • Duplicate images in the main mod page have been replaced with their proper respective images, wording has changed a bit, and some images have been retaken. (a lil spruce-up and consistency check)

  • The Deployable Bounceshroom's jump boost effect SHOULD no longer be active while not deployed.

  • All Pikmin 3 fruit scrap has had their scale and colliders adjusted to be more accurate to the shape of the object, in addition to normalizing the root's scale.

Version 1.0.3

  • Golden fruit, golden pikpik carrots, and gold nuggets now conduct electricity.
  • Five new scrap items have been added, as detailed below.
  • HEY! PIKMIN SCRAP: Two pikmin amiibo treasures from Hey! Pikmin have been added.
  • HANDHELD CREATURE SCRAP: Based mainly on their appearance in Pikmin 2, Female Sheargrubs, Male Sheargrubs, Shearwigs, and Bulborb Larva are now scrap items. (they're not actually enemies and won't attack you)
  • Handheld Male Sheargrub and Shearwig can both be used as weapons.
  • Amiibo scrap can be rotated by pressing LMB, like the other trophy-type scrap.
  • The Dusty Mushroom and Spotcap's weights have both been lowered from their erroneously high ~70lb weight.
  • The Empress Bulblax Trophy scrap item now properly spins when clicked like the other trophy scrap.

  • Bug where deployable bounceshroom would apply jump field while not deployed has been fixed.

  • Level matching properties script is now properly referenced, meaning scrap should now actually spawn, with a low chance on moons tagged vanilla or custom, which, I'm told, is all of them. (If you still have any issues, please reach out.) (keep in mind you can also tag your moons with a tag named pikmin to make my scrap spawn there with a weight of 150)

  • NEW SCRAP: Pikpik Carrot, Golden Pikpik Carrot, and Golden Pikpik carrot Case have been added, based on Pikmin 2.

  • The readme for the modpage has been re-labeled and looks slightly better.

  • Values of several scrap have been lowered.
