It is intended that you update your mods after initial installation so all dependencies are downloaded.
Mods get in and out all the time. It will be probably best for you if you create a new profile every time theres a modpack update, as new mods could conflict with old, removed ones.
The modpack has now been split into different packs to allow you to pick and choose, or you can just download this main pack to get the full experience.
