README

COMPANY-MANDATED MESSAGE:

Hey, employees, be more careful already!

We've noticed that you seem to be treating our newest Company Cruiser as some sort of toy, driving around at full speed, doing flips, running over your co-workers. And now it seems you've also started blasting rock music all throughout the truck, which only further endangers your driving!

What's next, throwing banana peels at your colleagues to make them slip? Really, you could fall off into outer space with such dangerous driving! And do any of you even have a driver's license?!

That is all for this message. We hope you stay a great, great asset to the Company.

The Mod

Introduction:

Get ready to boost your course through the various moons with this mod that puts the "rock" in "Rock Cup"! Rev up the Company Cruiser to start playing this Mario Kart 8 Deluxe song and jam out along the way.

Pedal to the metal! Ignore all possible safety precautions! Experience crazy doppler effect! This mod is sure to enhance your CC experience to 200cc!

Customization:

The mod comes with a handful of options to customize the experience:

  • By default, London Loop will start playing as soon as the engine turns on, and will fade out when the engine gets turned off, the Cruiser gets destroyed, or the day ends.
    • If this is true, you can select how loud you want the song to be, and if you want it to mute the radio while playing.
      • Additionally, these two settings can be changed during gameplay if LethalConfig is installed.
  • Otherwise, you can choose to add the song to the Cruiser's radio and toggle it like you do with the default radio.
    • For which there is the option to have it be the only song on the radio, or add it to the playlist of all songs.

Creation:

  • Another little creative exercise of mine. This time to get more familiar with creating and managing my own components and Monobehaviour scripts and instances of them, hopefully to be able to make more original content in the future, instead of recycling already-existing scripts.
  • And I've finally learned how I could possibly loop songs with a custom intro, instead of having to painstakingly cut out the intro and play only the body of the song.
    • Now I just have to... painstakingly do it this other way...

Credits:

  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass, and London Loop, originating from Mario Kart Tour, all made by Nintendo.
  • And thank you for checking out or even downloading this mod!

CHANGELOG

v1.0.0

  • Release

v1.1.0

  • Added 2 Config options
    • [Ambient Volume] influences the volume of London Loop
    • [Ambient Mutes Radio] influences whether the Cruiser's radio will go silent while London Loop is playing
    • Additionally, if LethalConfig is installed, these two options can be edited during gameplay
    • All these only take effect if Config [Ambient Or Radio] is set to true
  • Slightly decreased the default volume of the song
  • Added a Customization paragraph to the ReadMe, and rewrote some config and console log feedback, for the sake of clarity
  • Moved mod to Asset Replacements category
    • Although it adds functionality rather than replacing already-existing one, I think I'm going to do this now, as well as for other mods of mine in the future, with quantity-over-quality being the main deciding factor. If it's a small mod that only adds one thing, I'll put it in Asset Replacements so I can keep my Mods section for larger mods that I want to put front-and-center.
