COMPANY-MANDATED MESSAGE:
That is all for this message. We hope you stay a great asset to the Company.
However, clearly, this should not deter you from your work, so despite all these objects suddenly mimicking sounds of other items and entities, we WILL hold you accountable for getting confused and/or or injured as a result.
Employees, things seem... different.
As we saw a Manticoil flying by our window today, we noticed it appeared to emit the sound of the so-called Bracken. We didn't think much of it at first, but then the Whoopie Cushion we placed on an intern's chair made the explosion sound of our weapons provider's stun grenades. And then, as even more objects around us seemed to create different sounds than intended, we had come to the conclusion that a lot of these items appear to mix and match sounds and noises of most other entities beknownst to us.
The Mod
Introduction:
Think you can handle shuffled sounds and songs? This mod collects over 600 audioclips from the game, and then randomly redistributes them among tons of items and enemies!
Clownhorns that sound like slamming doors...
Snare fleas that laugh like Tulip Snakes...
Farting Coil-heads...
All this and more in this chaotic mod that will put you on edge as every sound might suddenly convey other information than you're used to!
Creation:
- Given that this mod collects six-freaking-hundred audioclips from all over the game, it can definitely take longer to load into a lobby. My guesstimate is around 7 seconds of loading, which could start to add up if you're playing with like 50+ other mods, but otherwise I believe this shouldn't be too negative of an impact.
- My intent with this mod was to randomize the sounds of all items with special sounds, such as the Airhorn and Cash Register, and shuffle all sounds of enemies and hazards as long as they don't relay important information.
- So, this mod will certainly throw a lot of randomized silliness at you, but I didn't want to make it too random, nor too lame. I think it manages to fall somewhere in between.
- This mod was primarily made as another demonstration of what my custom library STSharedAudioLib can do.
- I personally believe it shows the capacity of the library really really well, and actually makes for an often hilarious mod.
- But I didn't initially intend to make a sound randomizer at all, so apologies if our expectations of this randomizer might mismatch.
- But, to bridge the gap a little, the mod does come with a few customizable options such as to turn the multiplayer off, so you can play the mod without others in the lobby needing the mod too.

- And this mod first released as a v0.9.0 Test Release, to see if the netcoding held up, if the idea was fun, or if certain things should be rebalanced.
- A v0.9.5 release has hopefully addressed the largest problem of randomized sounds being repetitive on loop. This turned out to be the biggest 'fix', so from there on out I explored with a few large new ideas.
- And the full v1.0.0 release is, I think, a great demonstration of what this mod can be. I was debating between complex ideas that made sense or silly ideas that were funny, and I'm glad to say that the test releases helped show that funny ideas are a great fit for this mod and the game's atmosphere. So I hope this randomizer will first put you on edge and then get a good laugh out of you and your friends!
- If I may share a personal note as well, during the making of v1.0.0, I felt like I both had a lot of momentum thanks to being surprised by the capabilities of my own library, and simultaneously lost a ton of momentum due to me pushing myself too hard. In the end, I think I'm content but might make further changes, even if just to delegate the big new features I couldn't choose between and ended up implementing on only three objects (which I still think is hilarious) to config options, and choosing to take my rest for now.
Credits:
- This is in part inspired by The Legend of Zelda randomizers, which I happened to be watching at the time of making this mod.
- I took some inspiration from the way sounds are randomized in those mods by swapping mostly songs and a few voice clips, but decided to stick to my own decisions as well, since testing this proved that a bit more chaos was potentially really funny, given this game's silly vibe.
- I'd like to thank the people who've mentally supported me during the time of making this mod, as well as the other mods and updates I've released the past month. Modding truly means a lot to me, and as I said I actually pushed myself too hard at some point, so I'm very very thankful that these people still hear me out and put me back on track when I'm most uncertain about my ideas and learning progress.
- And thank you for checking out or even downloading this mod!
