Empress LateJoin v1.0.2

A host-only late join mod for REPO that brings waiting players in on Level, Shop, or Shop Lobby. Wait in purgatory with a static level view!

What this mod does

Empress LateJoin lets people join your run late on ANY LEVEL SWITCH.

  • Late joining players are sent to a lobby purgatory
  • While waiting, they get a static view of the current level
  • When the scene switches, any waiting players automatically join the game
  • Unlike other LateJoin mods, this works after ANY level switch
  • That means Level, Shop, and Shop Lobby all count as valid handoff points
  • Players still have to wait, just not as long

How purgatory works

Purgatory is the waiting state for late joiners.

  • If someone joins while the host is already inside an active level, they do not fully enter that live level
  • Instead, they are held in a lobby purgatory state with a static view
  • They stay there safely until the next scene transition happens
  • As soon as the host moves to the next Level, Shop, or Shop Lobby, waiting players are pulled in automatically

This keeps late joining practical and awesome.

Multiplayer

  • ONLY THE HOST NEEDS THE MOD

This is a host-only late join mod.

  • The host needs it installed
  • Clients do not need it installed
  • If clients do happen to see weird console errors on their side, those can be ignored
  • The mod is still working as intended even if their console looks confused

Important Notes

Because this is a host-only mod, I cannot fully control what the client console spits out during the waiting process.

  • Any errors the client sees in their console during purgatory can be ignored
  • Those client-side errors do not mean the mod failed
  • If the player reaches purgatory and joins properly on the next scene switch, the mod is working as intended
