How to Install R.E.P.O. Mods

There are two main ways to install mods for R.E.P.O., and which one you choose depends on how hands-on you want to be.

Option 1: Use the Thunderstore Mod Manager

This is by far the easiest method and perfect for most players. You only have to install a third-party software, but it streamlines everything and ensures your mods stay organized. Here’s how to install it:

1. Download the Thunderstore Mod Manager from Thunderstore.io.
2. Open the app, search for “R.E.P.O” in the “Search for a game” bar, and click on the game’s profile.
3. In the top-left, select ‘Get Mods’.
4. Search for your desired mods and click ‘Download’. You can also explore the full mod list or click ‘Website’ for more info.

1. Once installed, press the ‘Modded’ play button at the top of the screen to launch R.E.P.O. with mods enabled (as opposed to the ‘Vanilla’ version).
2. From there, you can manage your installed mods in the ‘My Mods’ menu—toggle them on or off as needed. If something breaks, try disabling a few mods, as some may conflict with others.

Most R.E.P.O. mods rely on the BepInExPack. This is usually auto-installed when you grab a mod with this dependency, but you can also search and install it manually just to be sure.

Option 2: Manual Installation

If you’d rather not install additional software, you can go the manual route—but it does take more time and effort.

1. Head to the mod’s page on Thunderstore.
2. Click ‘Manual Download’ instead of using the Mod Manager.
3. Carefully read the instructions for each mod—most will have different folders and file paths for installation.
4. Place the files in the appropriate directories in your R.E.P.O. game folder.

This method gives you more control, but it’s a bit more involved, and mistakes can lead to broken installs or crashes.

Whichever method you choose, once you’re set up, you’ll unlock a whole new layer of fun in R.E.P.O.—from extra cosmetics and quality-of-life features to chaotic new gameplay mechanics.

The XandI Mod is a mod for the game R.E.P.O. that adds three talking valuables to the game: 'Cute Radio', 'Mirror' and 'Storyteller'. They all will start talking in their own personality when you get close to them. They might even attract monsters.

Settings

Inside the settings.json file you can change the following settings:

• API Keys:
  • diagen: Takes care of the text generation for the valuables.
  • ariel: Ariel creates the voice for the valuables.

Attached to the settings is a base api key for testing purposes. If you want to use our api more often, please get in touch with us at X&Immersion.

• assets.valuables
  • name: Give the valuable a name.
  • personality: Give the valuable a personality. This will change how it talks.
  • talkingTime: When you start talking close to the valuable, it will start talking for a certain amount of time. This is the time in seconds.
  • ariel_speaker: The name of the ariel speaker. If you want to change the voice, get in touch with us and we can give you a different voice.

Don't change the asset attribute. If you do, the link between the valuable and the asset will be broken.
