Overview
Updated 2 years agoWelcome to Purge 3
The Lore
Odin smiled. Not the broad toothy grin, but a small unrecognizable smirk. He was pleased. His prison, Valheim, proved in ingenious success. The Forsaken are too busy fighting waves of warriors seeking entrance to Valhalla to challenge Odin's rule.
His eye burst into bright blue flame. It was time to send all of Odin's enemies to Valheim. Forsaken or not, all will be banished. Let them die and be reborn time and time again. Let them all know what it's like to be hunted. Let them know suffering like he has suffered for millennia.
The all father has blessed us in life and so we shall honor him in death. Go forth my brothers, build, eat, harvest, sow, grow stronger, and fight. And when all of Odin's enemies have fallen, your place at the feasting tables of Valhalla will be of the highest honor. It is time, let the purge of Valheim commence.
Notible Changes
Iron Mudpiles
One of the biggest progression breaking features is the ability to find iron mudpiles buried in the swamp and iron scraps dropping from oozers.
With early access to iron, sometimes even pre-Eikthyr if you are tenacious enough, one can mine pretty much anything in the game, and even outfit yourself in Mistlands gear without ever killing a boss (yes, its possible, ask me how if you really want to know).
At AG, we support and encourage mod authors and modpack creators and wish for their hardwork to be experienced and not "skipped". Therefore, we have removed the mudpiles and the scraps dropping from oozers.
Bosses
Bosses are locked and will be unlocked on a schedule. Eikthyr will be available the Saturday after launch, and a new boss will be unlocked each week on Friday.
Armor
At each tier, you will find three types of armor: Light, Medium and Heavy. Each has its benefits. All sets have a set bonus as well, and it only requires 2 items of the set to get the set effect.
What this means, is that you have a lot of flexibility with your build, to mix and match armor to get the stats you want. You are not limited to creating matching sets, so play around with different combinations.
This was difficult to balance so if you feel like something is undercooked or overdone, please reach out to us and let us know.
Infinite Resources
Every resource regenerates every three real life days.
Dungeons - (burial chambers, crypts, mountain caves, hildr's bosses) will regenerate every three days from the time they were discovered. They will not regenerate if a player is inside. You may build around the entrances safely.
Locations - Locations are anything that spawns in world that isn't "natural". Ruins, camps, houses and meteorites are all locations which will reset three days from the time they were discovered.
Ores - Every ore (tin, silver, copper) will reset every three days at 2am MST. When resetting, they will remove any player structure in their immediate area and may reset if a player is currently in the area.
Crops - Crops, and some ores in the Ashlands/DeepNorth, will spawn automatically and constantly. If you can't find one, look harder, they are there.
Trees - Every time you cut down a tree, the stump will be removed and a sapling will be planted after a certain amount of time. If you do not wish for that tree to grow (i.e. clearing for a base), just remoe the sapling after it appears. This includes any trees you planted yourself.
Game Mechanic Changes
Skills
Sailing - As you increase your sailing skill, any boat you construct will have greater health. Any boat you are driving will move faster. As the oceans are teeming with monsters that will want to kill you, increasing your sailing and reconstructing your boat will improve its health to better withstand the sea monsters.
Swimming - You can no longer drown treading water in the ocean. If you are motionless at the surface of the water, you will regain stamina.
You can hold down on LFT-CTRL to control your dive. You may also use weapons in the water.
Fish can be killed using a bow or spear.
Gormand - The more you cook, the more a chance you will cook double the output.
Exploration - Increases the radius of the map uncovered as you travel across land. It will also increase your movement speed. However, in order to use a map table, you will need level 20 to write to one and level 40 to read from one. At level 50, you could double contents found in chests.
Eitr and Crossbows
These are enabled from Black Forest on, and you will find upgrades of all sorts for each. Some magical weapons can be upgraded to level 10. The Bookcase extension for the Inscription Table can be placed multiple times to add multiple levels to the table.
