Fenrir

Son of the trickster god Loki, with incomparable destructive strength, often likened to that of a titan. All the Viking gods, including the god Odin, feared him, so much so that he was nicknamed the titan of the apocalypse...

Description

  • Play as Fenrir, blessed with the powers of the gods. A demigod that will generate energy every few seconds and has a chance to renegerate energy when punching or blocking enemies, used to unleash destructive powers with its bare hands on its enemies through special abilities (by default, mid and side mouse buttons).
  • Fenrir will land massively destructive and fast punches, using its main and fists skill to inflict frost and blunt damage and its bear hands to block incoming damage. Over time, these destructive punches will take down even the toughest trees. Fenrir does not need melee weapons to rip its enemies apart.
  • The cold air surrounding its body will increase its natural body armor and inflict additional frost damage from all launched arrows. Optionally, can infuse and consume metals to become even more powerful, as well as infuse the legendary belt of Megingjord to carry even more weight and concentrate more energy.
  • Will rest and regenerate health while sitting and not in combat, regardless if at a nearby fire or not. At night, it will regenerate extra health from food. Will regenerate stamina much faster than a mere mortal. Optionally, it can prepare several sweet raw fish recipes to increase its costly stamina.
  • Fenrir will run as fast as a wolf, dobule jump and will never feel cold.
  • A spirit wolf will accompany lonely Fenrir.

Abilities

  • Slash: Fenrir uses its sharp claws to slash enemies, trees and other destructibles. Causes slash and frost damage. By default, it can be activated with the middle mouse button (Mouse 3).
  • Enrage: Fenrir is infused with the cold air surrounding its body, making its punches even more destructive, adding spirit damage to its attacks and inflicting half of that damage to nearby enemies (AoE). It will also act as a shield, absorbing part of any incoming damage. By default, it can be activated with the front-side mouse button (Mouse 5) when not blocking.
  • Heal: Fenrir absorbs the cold air surrounding its body and consumes energy to heal itself. By default, it can be activated with the front-side mouse button (Mouse 5) when blocking.
  • Summon Wolf: Fenrir summons a powerful spirit wolf companion that will grow in size and power based on Fenrir's main skill. It will also gain levels (stars) by hitting enemies multiple times, increasing its base health, and will cause additional damage when fed. By default, it can be activated with the back-side mouse button (Mouse 4).

After consumption of 'Infused Claws', you will awake the true power of your abilities:

  • Enrage: Will cause additional spirit damage per second to nearby enemies.
  • Slash: A portion of the damage caused to enemies will be returned as health to the caster.
  • Summon Wolf: A portion of the damage inflicted to the wolf will be reflected to the attacker.

Fenring is your flesh, and its flesh is yours. These creatures will roam around high up in the night...

Misc

  • Enhanced compatibility with mods 'SpearFish', 'TheFisher' and 'SeaAnimals': Increased collision range for the Abyssal harpoon, making it easier to catch fish with it, and can make raw fish from caught fish or meat from these mods.
  • Can be configured so that Queen bees can be purchased from Haldor, Abyssal harpoons upgraded up to four stars, among other optional features. Not all these features are enabled by default but can be configured.
  • Summon Wolf ability can be configured to summon other types of wolves instead, such as Ulv.

Tips

  • Even though this mod will fully work on an already created character, it is recommended that you use this mod on a fresh character. By default, Fenrir cannot use melee weapons, and the damage inflicted by its punches fully rely on its main and fists skills. At first it will do little damage, but will ultimately turn itself into a destruction machine.
  • Progression with its main skill will feel natural throughout the game. By default, it will be capped based on the amount of killed bosses (fully configurable). This will prevent Fenrir from becoming too overpowered before moving into the next biome. Progression might feel somewhat slow in the beginning, but it is linear (different from other skills).
  • Although the mod is linearly balanced and somewhat vanilla friendly, once you get used to the play-style, you could feel overpowered (roughly evenly from start to end). It is recommended that you use other mods such as 'CreatureLevelAndLootControl' or 'BiomeDifficultyProgression', and set enemies' base damage to 150% (or even 200%) for a challenge.

Configuration

This mod is highly configurable. The settings will allow you to turn it into a completely different mod, from disabling all features and only retaining the regeneration buff while sitting, to allowing the usage of melee weapons and several other tweaks. Highly compatible as most features can be enabled and disabled individually.

This feature changes the movement modifiers to be additive (e.g. 100% default speed - 20% speed from equipment + 25% speed from run skill + 20% bonus speed as Fenrir = 125% speed). Your heavy equipment will feel less of a burden due to being less impactful. This feature is not fully compatible with every single mod that alters the movement speed of a player.
(General) Enable Customized Items Fenrir is able to further upgrade certain items and buy others from the merchant. Please refer to the 'Misc' section.
(General) Enable Fenrir Body Natural Armor Fenrir is blessed with additional armor from the cold winds that gradually increases with Fenrir's skill level.
(General) Enable Fenrir Block Armor Fenrir mitigates damage while unarmed and blocking (based on Fenrir's skill level).
(General) Enable Fenrir Double Jump Fenrir is able to jump a second time while in the air. Do not wait too long for the gravity effect though.

Movement Bonus Jump Force (%) Adds this multiplicative value, in percentage, to the jump force, meaning Fenrir jumps higher.
Movement Bonus Movement Speed (%) Adds this additive value, in percentage, to the movement speed, meaning Fenrir moves faster.
Movement Stamina Drain From Jumping (%) Multiplies the stamina drain from jumping by this value in percentage, meaning Fenrir consumes less stamina when jumping for a value lower than 100. Default game value = 100%.
Movement Stamina Drain From Running (%) Multiplies the stamina drain from running by this value in percentage, meaning Fenrir consumes less stamina when running for a value lower than 100. Default game value = 100%.
Powers Energy At Base Level Determines the maximum energy Fenrir will have at Fenrir's zero skill level.
Powers Energy At Max Level Determines the maximum energy Fenrir will have at Fenrir's maximum skill level.
Powers Energy Infused Reg Time Modifier (%) Determines the time multiplier, in percentage, for passively regenerating one energy point after ability infusion. A value of 50% (for a passive renegeration time period of 10 seconds) would mean Fenrir would renegerate one energy point every 5 seconds (10s x 50% = 5s).
Powers Energy Regeneration Chance (%) Determines the chance, in percentage, of regenerating one energy point when hitting an enemy or blocking.
Powers Energy Regeneration Time (seconds) Determines how often, in seconds, one energy point is passively regenerated. Enter 0 in order to disable this functionality.
Powers Enrage Aoe Damage Factor (%) Determines the fraction of the total damage applied as area of effect when enraged.

  • A new type of infusion for end-game added: 'Infused Eitr'. After killing The Queen, eitr can be infused (recipe is configurable) so that Fenrir can still regenerate energy despite having an ability active (such as 'Enraged' or 'Heal'), meaning these abilities can keep on running for as long as Fenrir keeps hitting or blocking enemies as quickly as possible. Also increases the base eitr by 50 by default (configurable).
  • Eitr will regenerate faster for every 1 unspent energy point. By default, it will regenerate 5% faster for every 1 unspent (unused) energy point. Can be entirely disabled in the 'Enable Fenrir Regeneration Eitr' config entry.
  • Passive energy regeneration increased after ability infusion. By default, the time required to regenerate 1 energy point will be reduced from 10 seconds to 5 seconds after infusion.
  • Staff of frost damage increased by 25% by default (to have an alternative to bows since they already provide with a 20% frost damage buff by default). Configurable as usual.
  • Summoned wolf will regenerate a fraction of its health while in combat (by default, 40% of the value regenerated while not in combat). Configurable as usual.
  • Sweet fish recipes will also provide eitr. Can be entirely disabled in the 'Enable Sweet Fish Eitr' config entry.
  • Sweet sushi recipe no longer requires raspberries, but rather carrots.
  • Base configs re-balanced once again. Please remove your config file before running the game if you wish to apply them.
  • Several bug fixes.

  • Added the possibility of infusing abilities. After consuming 'Infused Claws', you will unfold the true potential of your abilities, adding unique effects to them (please refer to the 'Abilities' section further up or in-game).
  • Enhanced compatibility with 'Jewelcrafting' mod. Gliding will no longer be canceled after double jumping.
  • Further bug fixing and tweaks.

  • Two custom user interface elements added to the game to display some useful information. Can be disabled in the configs in case of compatibility issues or if simply desired. Highly configurable. In case you do not have quick slots next to your health bar, setting the X position of the energy metric to 340 and the X position of the wolf health metric to 475 will bring them closer to the health bar.
  • Summoned wolf will now regenerate health when fleeing from combat.
  • Fenris set resistance to blunt damage replaced with resistance to slash damage.
  • Added the option to buy an Abyssal harpoon at the merchant. Disabled by default (price can be set in the configs).
  • Once again, several settings re-balanced. Please remove your configuration file for this mod before launching the game in case you wish to apply them.
  • The mod can now run on a server, but has not yet been tested in multi-player. You might host it and start alpha testing it if you wish. If you do so, please join my discord channel to report bugs.
