Modpack with mods and configs used to build the dungeon map used in previous cycles of the VMP Houlgate server. Unzip the HoulUDoinBbV4.zip included in the modpack's plugin folder (BepInEx/plugins/OdinPlus-VMPack_DungeonMapWithMinimalReqs, relative to profile directory) into your worlds folder (%APPDATA%/../LocalLow/IronGate/Valheim/worlds on Windows). World name is HoulUDoinBbV4.

This is the minimal set of mods and configs required for the dungeon map to be playable. Feel free to run with other mods of your own, but it's recommended to install this on a new profile and make backups of any characters you plan to take into this world.

V+ is a known incompatibility.

##Overview

The included world, HoulUDoinBbV4, contains 4 sprawling, mazelike, player-built dungeons for each boss from Eikthyr until Moder. Existing boss spawn altars have been warded and blocked off, with each altar instead holding written clues hinting to the location of the corresponding boss' dungeon. Boss stones have been placed in the corresponding boss' dungeons, but are also kept at spawn in case of being unable to interact with the stones inside the dungeons.

Only one of Eikthyr's boss altars holds clues for its location, due to the relative simplicity of finding it. The Vegvisir at spawn points the player to Eikthyr altar with the hints.

Yagluth boss altars are warded and blocked off, but there is no dungeon for him. His boss stone also does not exist in this world.

For later bosses, you may need to track down more than one altar to find more detailed directions. Moder's location is especially vague.

Navigation is part of the challenge in some of the dungeons. Pay attention to where you are, where you have been, and bear in mind that you will sometimes need to look closely to find the path forward. Portal names can sometimes help you keep track of where you are in the overall dungeon structure.

Most enemies in the dungeon respawn on a proximity timer. Smaller enemies may come in swarms and respawn every few seconds, common enemies take a little longer to respawn and tend to come in pairs or triplets, and especially dangerous enemies can take up to a minute to respawn.

All dungeons have 'save rooms' dispersed throughout where you can claim a bed and repair your equipment.

##Important Notes on Character Saves

OdinPlusQoL config has, aside being set to ensure dungeon functionality, been set to be as close to vanilla as possible. This means that the extended inventory and dedicated equipment slots features in OdinPlusQoL have been turned off by default.

If you plan to play with an existing character that already uses the extended inventory options in OdinPlusQoL: a) make sure to backup your character save b) - make a backup of your OdinPlusQoL config

  • copy over your inventory settings - see below note on config settings required for dungeons to work; don't overwrite these, or set back to true if you do accidentally overwrite them

If you do not use the extended inventory options specifically from OdinPlusQoL (i.e. running vanilla or using another inventory slot mod like EAQS), you should be fine with using the default settings from this modpack.

You may want to consider using a mod like DeathTweaks to prevent loss of inventory on death. The dungeons were originally designed with at least equipped items being kept on death; additionally, there are certain areas where it is possible for your gravestone to fall out of world bounds, and thus become irrecoverable.

##Balance

CLLC configs can be tweaked without issue. By default, monsters common in the beginning of the game up to Black Forest have stats close to vanilla. Monsters closer to mid/end game have 2-4x higher base stats. Stat scaling from number of stars is minimal; you'll probably see 4-6 star enemies just in the first dungeon, but their statline isn't much different from their 0-star variant.

Default numbers are balanced around the server environment which we ran the map on, which included Epic Loot, Boneappetit, and various armor/weapon mods that offered significant player power boosts. Take this into account if you plan on playing with the configs included by default in this pack. Boss health starting from Bonemass can get pretty unmanageable for solo play if on a relatively vanilla setup.

##Critical Config Settings

Config settings which you are highly discouraged from changing:

  • OdinPlusQoL Disable Structural Integrity system (keep set to true)
  • OdinPlusQoL No Damage to Player Buildings (keep set to true)
  • OdinPlusQoL No Weather Damage to buildings (keep set to true)
  • OdinPlusQoL Disable Teleport check for items (keep set to true - required for bringing dragon eggs to Moder)
  • BetterWards ward range and any settings regarding player restrictions inside wards

Changing any of the above settings will very likely result in physical or functional breakage of the dungeons.

##Misc Notes

  • Many biomes and regions in this particular world seed are barren of trees. You may find large lengths of treeless Black Forest, for example- this seems to just be a quirk occurring as a result of a rather unorthodox world seed being used.
  • The owner names of Dungeon wards can be very inconsistent. If you find yourself entering a ward with an unusual player name attached to it, do not be alarmed.
  • All doors inside the Dungeons are not intended to be directly interactable. They are usually one-way doors activated by pressure plates (which are set to ignore wards) from one side only, and in some cases, just static parts of the scenery.
  • Likewise, portal names inside the Dungeons should not be changed.
