Heretic deserves a chance to shine in the spotlight. This character is so cool but I never actually play them because when I pick a survivor when starting, that's usually the survivor I actually want to play, not some other character that I have to gamble into swapping to partway through a run. It's a cool concept to unlock the character, sure, but quoting the words of a friend, "I just wanna play as the bird".
Base Character (rework)
- Now accessible as a selectable character via Moffein's Heretic mod as a soft dependency.
- This mod reduces Heretic's base health from 440 to 110 and base damage from 18 to 12 (AKA normal survivor values).
- Technically it also changes health regen but I do my own thing with that.
- Heretic base regen set to -0.75 (-0.15), giving her a slow but constant health drain.
- Negative base health regeneration is no longer affected by Drizzle/Monsoon regen multipliers (positive regen bonuses still are).
- Picking up the first stack of each item of Heresy before having the Mark of Heresy (full transformation) increases this negative regen by 33%.
- Now has tips in the Overview section of the character select screen.
- Character AI completely rewritten to be much more capable (in vanilla it's literally copied from Commando and it doesn't fit at all).
- Makes Goobo Jr. pretty strong on Heretic.
- Various visuals adjusted:
- Now falls in a drop pod like most survivors.
- Character select/spawn animation screenshake and effects toned down to reasonable levels.
Comments:
A whole bunch of changes, but let's start from the top. While Heretic's negative health regeneration is certainly unconventional, I think managing it is a crucial part of Heretic's gameplay, so I've added that back. A whole bunch of other changes and additions have been made to help them not just be selectable as a vanilla survivor, but actually feel like part of the base game. I want Heretic to truly be the best that she can be.
Lunar Primary | Hungering Gaze (buff)
- Recharge rate now affected by attack speed.
Comments:
This change is actually also made in Moffein's Heretic mod, but these skill changes are made regardless. This helps the skill be worth considering on certain characters that might otherwise never take it due to already having high-proc primaries, and also helps it fit in with other restock-based primaries.
Lunar Secondary | Slicing Maelstrom (buff)
- AOE radius increased from 5m to 7m (ending blast radius unchanged at 14m).
- AOE proc coefficient increased from 0.2 to 0.5.
- (Indirect) Rooted debuff can now be transferred by Noxious Thorn.
Comments:
I quite enjoy using the secondary, but it can feel very inconsistent in hitting targets, especially airborne ones. This is an attempt to make the AOE attack more reliable and better match the projectile's visuals.
Lunar Utility | Shadowfade (rework)
- Cooldown increased from 6s to 8s.
- Healing per tick very slightly increased (from 18.2% to 21% over the duration).
- Movement speed bonus reduced from 30% to 25%, but forces sprint while active.
- Now grants 200% increased airborne acceleration.
- Can no longer use midair jumps while in use (they would be much less effective anyways due to the acceleration).
Comments:
Firstly, adjust the healing to be a bit closer to expected values. Second, it is getting better air control, similar to Milky Chrysalis, which helps these floaty, flying abilities feel much more controllable. Third, it gives way too much on-demand safety, so it's getting a cooldown nerf to make it a bit less spammable.
Lunar Special | Ruin (tweak)
- (Indirect) Ruin debuff can now be transferred by Noxious Thorn (does not trigger if stacks are detonated).
Comments:
This just has so much potential to be a fun synergy.
