RiskyMithrix

A mod that buffs Mithrix against mobile/airborne players while keeping his general moveset recognizable.

Rather than being a challenge mod that completely reworks Mithrix, this mod aims to be a general-use mod that can easily slot into any modpack.

All changes can be toggled in the config.

Changes

  • General

    • Health increased from 1000 -> 1200

      Higher than current, but not as high as the Anniversary Update (1400) where he felt too tanky.

    • 50% resistance to Move Slow and Attack Speed Reduction.

    • Fall Damage Immunity.

    • Freeze resistance.

    • Prioritizes players.

  • Hammer Slam

    • Momentum is now stopped when using this skill.

      High movement speed causes Mithrix to slide and constantly miss his hammer attacks.

    • Mithrix rotates towards his target before using this skill.

      Another fix geared towards Mithrix's terrible hammer accuracy.

    • Spawns 3 moving flame pillars that travels forwards.

      This is Mithrix's main attack, and it gets completely hard-countered by any sort of height difference. Flame Pillars should help with that.

  • Sprinting/Phase 4 Lunar Shards replaced with Lunar Orbs

    In Mithrix's normal phases, the shards never hit and barely do any damage. In Phase 4, the shards are impossible to visually read and can often lead to frustrating deaths. This projectile deals much more damage than the shards and has more reliable homing and AoE, but is easier for players to read and react to.

  • Hammer Bash

    • Shoots a fan spread of Lunar Shards.

      Gives him some minor poke damage when out of melee range.

    • No longer can trimp.

      Mithrix is completely helpless while airborne, and this skill can often launch him into the ceiling.

  • Dash

    • Backwards dash no longer scales with move speed.

      This often will lead to him dashing out of hammer range, then immediately using the hammer uselessly.

  • Sky Leap

    • Targets players, instead of the center of the arena.

      The vanilla behavior ends up making him super vulnerable and predictable, and is actively detrimental to him when fighting people camping on ramps/the sides of the arena.

    • Spawns flame pillars on his position upon landing.

      • Spawns more pillars during Phase 3.

      So that this skill doesn't get hard-countered by simply floating in the air.

Plans

  • Challenge Mode Artifact similar to Artifact of the King once main gameplay is in a good spot.

  • Possibility of adding a dedicated anti-flying attack: Need to see how current kit performs before judging if this is actually necessary.

  • Hammer Sunder Waves

    • Nerfed damage from 400% -> 200%

    Being clipped a single time could instakill entire teams. Intention of this is that it can deal 'decent' damage, but not 'instant death' levels of damage.

        • Hatred Phase 3: Spawns orbs on the ground as well.
        • Lower cooldown.
      • Sprint Bash

        • Fires more projectiles.
        • Lower cooldown and 1 extra stock.
      • Dash

        • Cleanses debuffs and DoTs.
        • Lower cooldown and 1 extra stock.
      • Sky Leap

        • Hatred Phase 3: Spawns 1 wave of Pizza Cutter.
        • Spawns orbs on the ground as well.
        • Duration reduced from 3s -> 1.5s
  • General

    • Buffed health from 1200 -> 1400

      Now back where it used to be during the Anniversary update.

    • Increased slow resistance from 50% -> 75%

      50% wasn't enough to combat how many slow debuffs available.

  • Flame Pillars

    • Increased damage per tick from 24 -> 32
    • Visuals are now consistent.
  • Weapon Slam

    • Reduced endlag by 50%.

    • Sunder Waves now spawn in Phase 1.

      • Requires Flame Pillars to be enabled.
    • Sunder Waves now spawn in 360 degrees in Phase 3

      • Requires Flame Pillars to be enabled.

      Giving him a bit of 360 degree coverage since it's trivially easy to just move behind him.

    • Fixed rotation being broken due to DLC3.

  • Sprint Bash

    • Duration reduced from 4s -> 2s

      The initial attack is already almost instantaneous so not much changes there. This will mainly shave time off of the endlag.

    • Buffed shard damage coefficient from 20% -> 40%

      These were still feeling really weak.

  • Hammer Slam

    • Phase 2 Fire Pillars increased from 3 -> 5 (existing config unaffected)
  • Sprint Bash Shards

    • Increased damageCoefficient from 0.1 -> 0.3
  • Lunar Orbs

    • Increased damageCoefficient from 1.2 -> 3

Ranged projectiles felt weak, will see how they feel at these numbers.

    • Replaced Freeze Immunity with Freeze Resistance: Freeze Duration is lowered by 50%.
      • This resets the old config, set value to 0 for full immunity, or set to 1 to disable.
  • Hammer Slam

    • Rotation
      • Now ignores vertical height in range calculations.
      • Reduced duration from 0.5s -> 0.3s, scaled speed accordingly.
      • Now gets skipped if initial target is within 40 degrees of Mithrix's LoS.
  • Fixed Phase 4 Mithrix not attacking.
