README

ImprovedChefsKiss

A mod that tweaks Chef's "Chef's Kiss" passive to have better effects as more cooking skills are used on the target.

  • With 3 or more cooking skills applied, the food item now also gives 30% shield.
  • With all 4 cooking skills applied, the food item also resets your cooldowns and cuts the remaining cooldown time on your equipment by half.

This mod also fixes a bug in the base game whereby if you dealt the final blow to a target with Sear or Roll, that cooking skill wouldn't be applied (so, say, if you Dice an enemy, then Roll into them for the kill, the Roll is never applied and thus this only counts as one cooking skill).

Incidentally, in case you weren't aware, using Sear after Oiling a target removes the Oil, so if you want to put on all four buffs, Oil has to go on after Sear, unless the Sear kills the target, as the superfire effect from Oil-boosted Sear briefly counts as a fourth cooking buff.

By popular demand, I've added two new optional configuration options to this mod that give it significantly more overall power.

  • Nutrition grants +1 maximum health permanently when picking up level 3 (or higher) food.
  • Feast makes the effects of level 4 food party-wide, which also includes all drones and minions. This includes the +1 max health effect if Nutrition is turned on.

These are probably irresponsibly powerful, which is why they're optional and off by default, but I think it does make Chef somewhat more fun to play. As with all configuration options, you have to start the game with the mod installed once to create the config file before you can change them.

This is a host-only mod, only the host needs to have this mod for all Chef players to benefit from it, unless you enable the Nutrition option. Due to some weirdness with how max HP is handled in multiplayer, the other players will also need the mod to get the bonus health, though everything else will work fine without it.
