Scout
Discover map areas of interest from farther away, with per-type distances.Scout
Updating from an earlier version
This version renames the mod folder. Delete BepInEx/plugins/AskaScout before you install. If you leave it in place, the game can load the old copy instead of the new one. Mod managers remove the old files for you. Your settings are safe either way, because the config file name has not changed.
A BepInEx mod for Aska that lets you discover map areas of interest from farther away, so exploration feels like scouting rather than stumbling.
What it does
Wolf dens, cemeteries, draugr fields, islands, caves, fishing grounds — anything world-gen spawns — can be spotted from a greater distance. The discovery distance is tweakable per area type, so you can push the ranges you care about and leave the rest alone.
This is not a full map reveal. Out of the box the mod defaults every type to its vanilla discovery radius, so nothing changes until you raise the numbers you want. Caves have their own separate setting.
Install
- Install BepInEx 6 (IL2CPP) into your Aska game folder.
- Drop
Scout.dllintoBepInEx\plugins\Scout\. - Launch the game once to generate
BepInEx\config\mugsy33.scout.cfg. - Edit the config and raise the distances you want, then restart the game.
Config
Each area-of-interest type gets its own multiplier, applied to that type's vanilla discovery distance. A value of 1.0 means unchanged; 2.0 means you spot it from twice as far.
| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
Enabled |
true |
Master on/off switch |
| Per-type multipliers | 1.0 |
One entry per area-of-interest type — raise the ones you care about |
| Cave distance | vanilla | Caves are handled separately from surface areas of interest |
Start modest. Very large multipliers reveal big stretches of the map at once and take the discovery pacing out of the game.
Multiplayer
Discovery is evaluated for the local player only. Untested in multiplayer.
