Beacon

Press 9 to place a beacon on small interactable items in the world.

If you pick up a marked item, its beacon remains in place until you hit 9 again. Great for makeshift map markers.

Everytime you press 9, it refreshes the beacons. Great for finding stuff you lost in the underbrush and don't want to make your friends spend twenty minutes helping you hunt down. Then you become the clumsy one. Years from now, you'll tell them of your next-born child and they'll make jokes about not slipping down a mountain with the baby. Best to avoid that embarrasment.

Press F8 to open a menu to customize the beacon.

Press 0 to log the name of the item in front of you. Any size thing counts. Really only useful for mod devs that like to take notes while wandering around.

F8 Beacon Menu Options

Open the pause menu if you don't want to watch your head wiggle around as you adjust the sliders.

Search Range - 5m to 150m distance from you. Updates after pressing 9 - 9 to reset.
Max Beacons - 1 - 40 - Updates after pressing 9 - 9 to reset.
Beam Enable Shimmer Animation - Pulsing glow. Disable for older machines. Updates live.
Beam Base Thickness - .02 - 1.0 Spaghetti to Flagpole. Updates live.
Beam Height - 10 - 5000. Short king column to the sky. Updates after pressing 9 - 9 to reset.
Color Shift Speed - 0.00 - 2.00 How quickly the color of the beacons will shift between purple, yellow, white, dark blue. Updates live.
Color theme mode - Waluigi Cycle, Solid Purple, Solid Yellow. Wah.
Light Range - 0.0 - 20.0 How far out the ambient environmental lighting goes. 20 lights up the general forest area. Updates Live.
Light Intensity - 0.0 - 5.0 How cyberpunk blinding the ambient lighting is. Updates Live.
Enable Particle Swirling Effects. Disable if your machine hates it.
Particle count 0 - 20. Lowering to zero freezes current particles in place. Press 9-9 for fresh beacons.
Particle Size 0.02 - .30. Updates live.
Particle Rise Speed 0.00 - 3.00. Look at those little guys go. Updates live.
Particle Orbit Speed. 0.00 - 5.00 0 = teleporter beam up vibe. 5 = wisps. Updates live.
Menu / Look Lock - Started with locking with game screen while in F8 menu, ended up being a toy with misleading text. IGNORE ME.

Either F8 or in the bepinex config folder.

TO DO, MAYBE

Maybe fix the 0 logger to ignore the player body so the torso doesn't get in the way sometimes.
Maybe add non-Waluigi colors. But why?
Maybe continue adding to the item exception list of small things for the beacons to ignore. The boards in the tutorial room still light up for testing convenience.
Maybe just lock up the camera when you press F8.
ESC for the pause menu is easier. However, pressing F8 to close the menu while in the pause menu makes the mouse pointer disappear. Keyboard still works. F8 again returns the pointer. For the time being, just wait until you're back in game to close the F8 menu.
