Bonelib Organization
Organize BoneMenu with ABC, creator, AI, and Custom modes. Create your own categories and reorder mods with up/down arrows. Clean controls on the right. Windows PCVR.Bonelib Organization
A cleaner BoneMenu, organized your way.
Bonelib Organization adds a compact Order panel to the right of BoneMenu, with matching boxes on BoneMenu's soft grid backdrop. Charcoal fills, colored mode titles, fine accent lines, and matching selection highlights add color to the native-style menu. Categories use vibrant, distinct colors with compact neutral mod counts. An independent add-on for BoneLib in BONELAB.
Choose your organization
| Mode | What it does |
|---|---|
| ABC | Sorts mod names A-Z inside functional categories. |
| AI | Uses Codex to research mods and suggest categories, with saved source links. |
| Creator | Groups mods by their creator. |
| Regular | Restores the original BoneMenu order. |
| Custom | Lets you create your own categories and move mods with up/down arrows. |
Multiple menu pages belonging to the same identified mod stay together. Original mod settings remain accessible. Your selected mode, custom order, and categories are saved between launches.
Custom categories
- Select Custom, then Edit categories on the right.
- Enter a New category name with BoneMenu's keyboard, click New category color to choose a color, and select Create category.
- Open your category and click + Add Mod near the header. Select a mod from BoneMenu to add it; this returns you to the category without opening mod settings. Cancel goes back without adding anything.
- Use the arrows beside each mod to move it up or down, including across numbered pages. To remove a mod, use Edit categories → your category → Add / remove mods and click
[x].
You can rename categories, choose a new Color, change their order, or delete them from the category editor. Deleting a category returns its mods to Uncategorized. These custom categories are independent of ABC and AI categories.
Requirements
- BONELAB on Windows PCVR.
- MelonLoader. Built against 0.7.3.
- BoneLib 3.2.2, declared as a package dependency.
- For the optional AI mode: Codex installed and signed in on the same PC. BoneAI is not required.
This release does not support standalone Quest/Android.
Installation
Install with a compatible Thunderstore mod manager and launch your modded BONELAB profile. MelonLoader must be set up for your game.
For manual installation, close the game and copy Mods/BoneMenuOrganizer.dll from this ZIP into BONELAB's Mods folder. Open BoneMenu after restarting.
Updating from BoneMenu Organizer: replace the old BoneMenuOrganizer.dll; keep only one copy installed. The DLL filename and saved-data folder are retained so existing settings continue to work.
Optional AI organization
Open Codex and sign in, then select AI in the Order panel. The mod uses the installed Codex App Server and saved sign-in. If authentication is needed, a BoneMenu dialog offers the sign-in steps. No API key is required.
AI sends the displayed mod names and matched creator/mod metadata to Codex for public web research. Account usage limits apply. Select STOP to cancel. Results and their source links are saved locally; select the status panel for details and the research report.
ABC initially uses conservative name-based categories. Unknown mods remain under Other until researched. Creator matching can be incomplete for mods without identifiable callbacks or metadata.
Saved settings
Settings are kept in UserData/BoneMenuOrganizer/ inside the active game or mod-manager profile:
settings.json: selected mode, custom categories, memberships, order, and AI classifications.last-research.json: latest AI result.research.html: readable descriptions and public sources.
Testing status
Build and regression checks pass, including category membership, saved custom order, pagination, and original-page navigation. The Codex connection has passed a live sign-in and research check. The existing menu and controls have been user-tested in-game. Version 1.3.3 brightens category colors and adds individual mode accents while keeping the native background, button layout, and scene-change sprite recovery. The updated appearance still needs an in-game visual check, including Fusion.
