WristHub - V2 Beta

Heads up: V2 is still a beta. The main features are working, and this update makes Fusion sharing and tablet performance more reliable. Community avatars can still be built in unusual ways, so send me the newest MelonLoader log if one acts weird. I am keeping this project moving with cleaner updates and more wrist tools over time.

Hey! I made WristHub because I wanted a simple way to find, download, preview, and equip BONELAB avatars without constantly leaving the game or digging through folders.

It puts an avatar library right above your wrist. You can browse everything you already have, search BONELAB mod.io, download new avatar packs, preview compatible avatars in 3D, and equip them from the same menu.

Quick tutorial

  1. Install WristHub and launch BONELAB.
  2. Look directly at your left wrist and keep looking for about 1.5 seconds.
  3. A cyan progress circle will fill up, followed by a PUSH ME button.
  4. Touch PUSH ME with your fingertip or controller tip.
  5. Choose Avatars to browse your library, or Search Avatars to look for something new.
  6. Use All Avatars to scroll through everything, or Groups to browse by downloaded mod pack.
  7. To search, touch the search field, type with the tablet keyboard, and press Search. WristHub searches your installed avatars and the BONELAB avatar section of mod.io automatically.
  8. If you do not own a result yet, press Download and watch the live progress bar. WristHub will open the downloaded pack when it is ready; it will never equip something automatically.
  9. Press Equip, or grip/pinch a working 3D preview, pull it toward your chest, and release it to equip.
  10. Press the X to close the menu. Look away from your wrist before activating it again.

The left wrist is the default. You can switch to the right wrist, change the UI scale, reduce motion, choose the starting library view, or recenter everything from Options.

What is included in V2

  • A physical wrist launcher with gaze progress and fingertip controls.
  • A clean forearm projection with a soft emitter, thin energy rings, fine light tethers, and one quick tablet reveal.
  • All-avatar and mod-pack group browsing.
  • Zero-setup BONELAB avatar search; players do not need to enter an API key.
  • Safe mod.io downloads with progress, retry, cancel, platform checks, archive validation, and integrity checking.
  • One focused avatar view with artwork, details, height, and compatible 3D previews.
  • Direct Equip and grip/pinch-to-chest equipping.
  • Pack deletion with recoverable trash protection.
  • Automatic ModioModNetworker registration so Fusion peers can download equipped avatar packs when their own settings allow it.
  • Remembered browser settings and avatar persistence across compatible scene changes.
  • LabFusion-aware avatar swapping and local wrist controls.

Everything new since 1.2.3

  • A complete wrist-menu rebuild. WristHub now opens from a 1.5-second wrist gaze, a flat progress ring, and a physical PUSH ME launcher. The tablet follows your chosen wrist, scales with the equipped avatar, closes when you die, and supports recentering, UI scale, Reduced Motion, and left/right wrist settings.
  • A cleaner avatar library. Browse every installed avatar in one list or organize the library by mod-pack groups. The menu remembers your preferred starting view, keeps recent avatars near the front, and uses a focused one-avatar layout with better spacing and rounded controls.
  • In-game search and downloading. The tablet QWERTY keyboard searches installed avatars and BONELAB avatar packs on mod.io. Public search works without asking players for an API key, while an optional personal read-only key remains available as a fallback.
  • Safer, clearer installs. Downloads now use one clean progress capsule with the live state and percentage, plus cancellation, retry, platform availability, archive verification, dependency handling, and targeted pallet loading. Named pallet manifests are supported, and completed downloads open their real avatar crates instead of remaining stuck on LOADING.
  • Rebuilt 3D previews. Compatible avatars appear as contained full-color render-only models with effects and gameplay scripts removed. Previews share the same normalized size and position, show the avatar's real BONELAB height in meters, use a native hologram fallback when needed, and stay protected from stale loading callbacks.
  • Two ways to equip. Use the normal EQUIP button, or grip/pinch a ready 3D preview and release it at your chest. Equipping follows BONELAB's native avatar path, includes the normal avatar-change effect, saves the choice between levels and sessions, and safely restores the previous avatar if a swap fails.
  • Pack deletion and recovery. DELETE PACK removes the complete containing pack through a confirmation screen. WristHub cleans related manifests, caches, and recent-avatar history, uses recoverable trash with Undo, and can finish deleting Windows-locked packs safely on the next launch.
  • Fusion peer downloads. WristHub registers downloaded packs with ModioModNetworker, waits for the exact pallet registration before the multiplayer equip announcement, and uses Fusion's official avatar sender. Eligible peers can then enter ModioModNetworker's normal download flow, subject to their own safety settings and the pack author's PC/Quest files.
  • Smoother runtime behavior. The tablet, projection, input, downloads, and previews use pooled or guarded paths with less repeated work and fewer temporary allocations. Library refreshes are batched, rapid preview requests are cancelled, repeated diagnostics are throttled, and scene/Fusion rig replacements rebuild only what is needed.
  • New WristHub identity. The old BoneHub name, icon, DLL names, and settings paths were replaced with WristHub branding. Compatible BoneHub settings and history migrate automatically on first launch.

Beta notes

This is the V2 beta, so I would rather be honest than pretend every community avatar is built perfectly. Some avatars have unusual rigs, missing materials, huge effects, or broken preview information. WristHub contains those previews and uses a safe fallback when it cannot build a reliable 3D model. Preview limitations do not block Equip; BONELAB's guarded avatar swap remains the final compatibility check and restores your previous avatar if a swap fails.

The online catalog is also new. Search results are cached and rate-limited so everyone can use it without setup. Advanced users can optionally save a personal read-only mod.io key in UserData/WristHub/modio-api-key.txt as an automatic backup, but regular players do not need one.

Bugs and feature requests

Found a bug or have a cool idea for a new feature? Message me on Discord at @parzival3d. For bugs, send a quick explanation of what you were doing and the newest file from BONELAB/MelonLoader/Logs. Please never post an API key.

Fusion

WristHub does not require LabFusion. When Fusion is installed, WristHub keeps its interface local, registers WristHub downloads with ModioModNetworker, and announces a pack only when its avatar is equipped. Each other player still controls auto-download, maturity, blacklist, size, and platform settings; WristHub never bypasses those choices.

Cross-platform sharing also requires the avatar author to provide a file for that platform. For example, a PC-only avatar pack cannot be downloaded by a Quest player; WristHub now labels that limitation directly instead of silently promising a download.

Updating from BoneHub

WristHub copies compatible settings, download history, and avatar history from the old UserData/BoneHub folder on first launch. Remove BoneHub.dll and BoneHub.Core.dll before manually installing WristHub; do not load both versions together.

Manual installation

  1. Install MelonLoader, BoneLib, and ModioModNetworker for the current BONELAB patch.
  2. Copy WristHub.dll and WristHub.Core.dll into BONELAB/Mods.
  3. Remove the two old BoneHub DLLs if they are present.
  4. Launch BONELAB and follow the wrist tutorial above.

Thanks for trying V2. I am still building this out, so expect better previews, smoother controls, and more useful wrist tools in future updates. Have fun with it.
