BenWarning

Replaces your player character with the Snail ("Zombe") monster from Content Warning — AKA Ben.

Featuring:

  • Full rigging – the Zombe's own skeleton is cloned and driven by the player's animations. Your Zombe walks, runs, jumps, crawls and emotes exactly like you do.
  • Never twisted out of proportion – per-bone rotation offsets map the player's animation onto the Zombe's natural pose, so proportions stay intact no matter what animation plays.
  • The Zombe's personality kept – the tentacle legs and shell bones follow the original Zombe's animation, so it still creeps like the snail it is.
  • Realistic ragdoll – when you die (fall, monster attack, whatever), the game's own ragdoll physics drive the Zombe body. It tumbles exactly like the original player ragdoll, and gets back up when revived.
  • Items work – held and used items attach at the hands and follow the Zombe's grip, because the hands share the player's hand bones.
  • Original size – the model keeps the Zombe's true size (adjustable with a config option), with feet aligned to the ground.
  • Multiplayer – every client with the mod sees the Zombe; late joiners get it automatically. No phantom sync over the network.

Install

Use Gale (recommended) – import a local mod from the Export page or drop the zip/folder in. BepInEx (BepInExPack for Content Warning) must be installed for this mod to load. CWAPI is optional.

Manual (if you're not using Gale):

  1. Install BepInEx 5 for Content Warning (BepInExPack_ContentWarning).
  2. Launch the game once so BepInEx creates its folders, then close it.
  3. Copy ZombePlayerMod.dll into <game>\BepInEx\plugins\.
  4. Launch. The Zombe must spawn in the Old World at least once per session so the mod can cache its model.

Configuration

Edit BepInEx\config\BigPickle.ZombePlayerMod.cfg:

  • EnableModelReplacement (default true) – master on/off.
  • ModelScale (default 1.0) – 1.0 = the Zombe's true size. Lower to shrink, raise to make an even bigger threat.
  • ShowOwnModel (default true) – set false to keep your own first-person view normal while everyone else sees a Zombe.

How it works

The Zombe is a Player with ai == true, so it shares the same skeleton and ragdoll system as a human. This mod loads the Zombe from the game's loaded resources, clones its bones + meshes onto every human player, and mirrors the player's animation onto the Zombe rig via rotation offsets. Death/fall ragdoll is bridged straight from the game's PlayerRagdoll bodyparts.

The Zombe only loads into memory after the world has actually spawned it, so the mod keeps re-scanning and applies the model as soon as it's available. Your normal body stays visible until then - it is never "half-replaced".

Big Pickle reporting for duty.

Troubleshooting

  • If you never become a Zombe, make sure the Snail/Zombe monster has actually spawned once during your session (dive into the Old World). In the hub/boat area the monster isn't loaded, which is normal - the mod keeps watching and swaps the model live the moment it appears.
  • Check <game>\BepInEx\LogOutput.log for lines like Zombe model applied to... or Falling back to monster... and tell me what you see if it still fails.
