COTLMP 8 Player Expansion

An experimental beta that expands Cult of the Lamb local co-op to as many as eight players.

This is local multiplayer only. Online multiplayer is not included.

Main features

  • Up to eight local players with separate controllers.
  • Additional player indicators, colours and HUD support.
  • Dynamic camera zoom designed to keep the full group visible.
  • Enemy quantity and health balancing for larger groups.
  • 8P DIFFICULTY selector in the pause menu.
  • Independent follower conversations, cooking and repair overlays so one player does not stop everybody else.
  • Multiple players can collect, mine, chop and build simultaneously.
  • Every active player chooses their own tarot card.
  • Door and building-entry voting with a compact Cult-style panel.
  • Players disappear after entering a selected door and return only if DENY wins.
  • Temple and conversation softlock recovery.
  • Experimental vJoy support.

Controls and safety

  • Open the pause menu and choose Add Player to connect more players.
  • During an entry vote, use RT / Heavy Attack to toggle DENY.
  • DENY wins only when there are more deny votes than players already inside.
  • After a denied vote, only its initiator has a 15-second cooldown.
  • Press F10 to close a stuck menu or conversation and restore player control.

Installation

Mod manager

Install with Thunderstore Mod Manager or r2modman and launch the game through the manager.

Manual

  1. Install BepInEx and COTL API.
  2. Create a folder inside BepInEx/plugins for this mod.
  3. Copy the DLL and PNG files from this package into that folder.
  4. Start the game and check BepInEx/LogOutput.log if something fails.

Experimental warning

The original game was designed around two-player co-op. Rare tutorials, cinematics, simultaneous menus or game updates may still cause unexpected behaviour. Please include BepInEx/LogOutput.log, the number of connected players and the room/menu being used when reporting a problem.

Credits

Based on the original COTLMP - Multiplayer Expansion by CobbleCorn. This experimental build extends and repairs that project for larger local groups.

Uses BepInEx and supports COTL API and CotLSpineLoader integrations. Cult of the Lamb and its assets belong to Massive Monster and Devolver Digital. This is an unofficial, non-commercial community modification.
