DSP TaskMaster

An in-game task list for Dyson Sphere Program. Write down what you still have to do, or let TaskMaster track it for you: production targets, surplus, inventory, research, buildings, planet power and Dyson sphere power are checked live and ticked off automatically once they are reached.

Press Alt + T to open the task window (the keys can be changed in the settings).

Features

Task types

Type What it tracks
Reminder A plain note you tick off yourself.
Produce /min Machine capacity for an item per minute (e.g. 120 Titanium Glass/min).
Surplus /min Made minus used per minute during the last minute, so you know you actually have spare output.
In inventory Amount of an item in your inventory.
Research Done when the technology is unlocked. Searchable list of what's left to research.
Buildings Number of placed buildings of a type, on this planet or on all planets.
Planet power Spare power of a planet: generation capacity minus demand of its power networks. Flagged when demand is higher.
Sphere Power (MW) the Dyson sphere and swarm around a star generate.

Add tracked tasks with Track..., reminders with the text field at the bottom of the window. Items and buildings can be picked with the game's own item picker.

Managing tasks

  • Change a target: click a task's numbers, type the new target, press Enter to save or Esc to cancel. Works for all tracked tasks except research.
  • Reorder: the up/down arrows move an open task within its list. The order is saved with the game. Done tasks stay at the bottom.
  • Delete: the X button removes a task. An Undo row takes its place for 6 seconds.

Per planet or global

Every planet has its own task list, shown for the planet you are on, plus a Global list for tasks that aren't tied to one place. Choose Planet or Global in the window header when adding a task; inventory, research and sphere tasks always go to the Global list, planet power tasks always to the planet's list.

The Planets panel lists all planets with open tasks, grouped by star system. View another planet's list from there, or set it as the navigation target just like in the game's control panel.

Why is it behind?

Click a production task to see what's going on:

  • how many machines are working, waiting for input, have a full output, lack power or ore
  • which inputs the recipe needs at your target rate, and whether they are made or imported
  • how many buildings you need for the target, for the item and each of its inputs
  • a suggested setup (recipe and building) when nothing makes the item on the planet yet
  • Track inputs: one click adds production tasks for the inputs at the rate your target needs, right below the task (inputs that are already tracked or only imported are left out)

Surplus tasks show which planets make and use the item. Planet power tasks show the generators on the planet and how many buildings of each unlocked generator type the missing spare power would take there.

Overlay and alerts

While the window is closed, a small overlay at the screen edge shows your open tasks with their progress. Drag it by its header to move it, click it to open the window.

Tasks with a problem come first, marked with a short reason: a production task that is behind (for example "No power" or "Backed up") or has no machines, a surplus below zero, a planet short of power. The other tasks follow in your order.

An on-screen message tells you when a task reaches its target, and optionally when a production, surplus or planet power task falls behind or drops below its target again.

Saving

Tasks are stored per save game through DSPModSave, in a .moddsv file next to the save. Your normal save files are not changed, so removing the mod is safe.

Settings

Found in BepInEx/config/com.jules.dsp.taskmaster.cfg (or the config editor of your mod manager):

Section Setting Default Description
General Language auto Language of the mod's texts: auto follows the game when a translation exists, en is always English, any other value is a file name from the lang folder (without .txt). Takes effect after restarting the game.
Window Toggle key / Toggle key (alternative) Left Alt + T / Right Alt + T Open and close the task window.
Alerts Enabled true Show a message when a tracked task reaches its target.
Alerts Behind true Also alert when a production, surplus or planet power task falls behind or drops below its target.
Overlay Enabled true Show the overlay of open tasks while the window is closed.
Overlay X / Y 0 / 0 Overlay position. 0 / 0 = default position.
Window X / Y / Width / Height 0 Window position and size. Set Width to 0 to reset.
Performance Scan budget (ms) 2 Time per second for re-reading machines on planets you are not on or viewing.
Performance Log timings false Every 10 seconds, write to the BepInEx log how long each part of the update took (including the production and power analyses) and how often it ran.

Window and overlay position are also saved when you move or resize them in game.

On big saves, the capacity and building counts of planets you are not on or viewing are refreshed in turns (a few seconds apart) instead of all at once every second. Actual output, surplus, inventory, research, sphere and planet power are always live.

Translations

The mod is in English. Item, building, tech and planet names always come from the game, in the game's language. The mod's own texts can be translated with a file lang/<code>.txt next to DSPTaskMaster.dll, one key = text per line (the keys and English texts are in Strings.cs in the source). With the Language setting on auto, the BepInEx log says which file name it looked for. Anything missing from the file, or with the wrong {0} placeholders, stays English.

Installation

Install with r2modman or the Thunderstore Mod Manager; BepInEx and DSPModSave are installed automatically.

For a manual install, put DSPTaskMaster.dll into BepInEx/plugins and install BepInEx and DSPModSave.
