The Wieger 940s was an East German AK-74 like clone assault rifle that was meant to be for the export market. Chambered in 5.56mm NATO, it was the perfect round to be used as internationally outside of the Eastern Bloc. But when the Iron Curtain fell, the rifle went out of existance and there are some reproductions and originals scattered around. Technically would be called the 941 but there are production series that includes carbine, folding stock, marksman and even an RPK style model, hence calling it the 940 series makes most sense to me.
The rifle here functions largely similar to the AK-74, with fire controls exactly the same, with the exception of using its own proprietary magazine. This modul mod comes with a handful of swappable modularity. There are different barrel types for different operational needs, alongside with a standard stock and the typical coat hanger style stock of the DDR. There is only one handguard but it can easily be swapped with Meat's old ModulAK handguards, there are positions where the handguard can be shifted back or forth, due to how different the length is and the position of its gas tube, this modularity should help to modernize your rifle to your hearts content, there would be clipping, so be aware of that. This works the same way as the dust cover too!
Other modularity includes additional stock types, such as allowing 1913 picatinny stock and the AK-AR15 stock adapters, so that you can use all of Meat's stock options from ModulAR2 and MCX Stocks.
There are also chamberings to include 5.45 and 7.62 and of course, the ability to use STANAG mags with its adapter, and that adapter, is also tied to use Meat's ModulAR2 Upper, MCX for the 7.62mm Mag and even Wolfie's crazy chamberings options. So go ham!
