README

Silk & Song

This mod adds an RPG-style level-up mechanic to Silksong. By defeating enemies and completing quests, the player can accumulate XP which increases Hornet's level. Levels in turn increase Hornet's abilities in various areas.

Level-up Guide

Enemies

Enemies are divided into 3 groups: enemies, minibosses and bosses.

  • Enemies are generic enemies that give 1 XP.
  • Minibosses are enemies that are significantly stronger than regular enemies, but aren't quite bosses. They give 5 XP.
  • Bosses are the strongest enemies and give 10 XP.

The XP is multiplied by what Act the enemy first appears in (with some exceptions), so Bell Beast gives 10 XP, Cogwork Dancers give 20, and Bell Eater gives 30.

It deserves mention that some enemies, such as muckmaggots, don't give XP due to their low difficulty level.

Wishes

Wishes give significantly more XP than enemies, due to their rarity, how long they take to complete, and how RPGs traditionally give XP.

Wishes are divided much the same way as enemies: they have 3 levels of difficulty giving 25, 50 and 100 XP. That XP bonus is then multiplied by what Act you would most likely complete the given Wish. For example, the Flintbeetles Wish gives 25 XP, but Great Taste of Pharloom gives 200.

Most Wishes can only be completed once, but Wishes that can be completed multiple times, such as Delivery Wishes, count for each time they were completed.

XP Requirements

Levelling up is a slow process; each level requires significantly more XP than the last. You can reach level 1 as early as your first boss, but you probably won't reach level 10 until near the end of Act 3.

Perks

At each level, Hornet gets the following bonuses:

  • 2.5% bonus in needle damage
  • 4.16% bonus in spell/tool damage
  • 0.00625 bonus in masks regenerated per second
  • 0.009 bonus in Silk regenerated per second

So at level 4, Hornet will have:

  • +10% to needle damage
  • +16.67% spell/tool damage
  • 1 Mask regenerated every 40 seconds
  • 1 Silk regenerated every 27.5 seconds
