FishCraft Link
Real Minecraft inside How to Fish: fight, mine, build and fish with Minecraft's blocks, mobs and items. Needs Minecraft Java and Prism Launcher (the Minecraft pack is included; see the README).FishCraft Link
Real Minecraft, inside How to Fish. Build, mine, fight and fish with Minecraft's blocks, mobs, items and HUD, right in How to Fish's world. Minecraft (Java Edition) runs hidden alongside the game, and this mod links the two: you walk How to Fish's islands, and Minecraft's world, your hotbar, your hearts and its mobs appear around you.
Powered by SkyCraft (by chasmlol), which was made to put Minecraft inside Skyrim.
What you get
- Minecraft in the game's world: place and break blocks on the islands, with Minecraft's crosshair, hotbar, inventory, crafting and chat.
- One health bar: Minecraft's damage (creepers, TNT, zombies, falls, fire, lava...) hurts your How to Fish player, and Minecraft's healing heals it. Your money shows as emeralds.
- Minecraft fishing with real catches, and selling fish to the game's NPCs.
- Real combat, both ways:
- Your own hits (swords, axes, spears, maces, tridents, your fists, arrows) do heavy damage to the game's fish and bosses.
- Minecraft's mobs hunt the game's creatures, walk to them, and hit them for real damage that scales with how strong the mob is.
- The game's own fighting creatures (piranhas, mantas, pufferfish, spider crabs, albatrosses, bosses) fight Minecraft's mobs instead of you, so you're never caught between the two.
- Lava and explosions (TNT, creepers, crossbow fireworks) hurt the game's creatures too, and explosions make fish burst out of the water like the game's own dynamite.
- The game's boss fight bar stays on screen.
- F5 views: first person, third person from behind and from the front, with your Minecraft character (Steve or another of Minecraft's built-in characters if your skin is see-through). Gliding with an elytra switches to third person by itself.
- F3 + F4 switches Minecraft's game mode (Survival, Creative...).
- Fireworks: a firework shot from a crossbow bursts like a real Minecraft firework, even without a firework star.
- Boats float properly on the game's sea.
What you need
- How to Fish with this mod (installed by the mod manager, together with BepInEx).
- Minecraft: Java Edition (you must own it) and Prism Launcher (free), signed in with your Microsoft account.
- Windows. A PC that can run both games at once (8 GB of RAM is the minimum; 16 GB is better).
Setup (once)
- Install FishCraft Link with the Thunderstore Mod Manager or r2modman (profile for How to Fish).
- Install Prism Launcher and add your Microsoft account in it (Accounts, Add Microsoft).
- Import the Minecraft side: in Prism, click Add Instance, choose Import, and pick the file
FishCraft.mrpack. To find it: in the mod manager, open Settings, Browse profile folder, then BepInEx > plugins > FishCraft-FishCraft_Link. Keep the instance name FishCraft (the mod starts that instance). Prism downloads Minecraft 26.3, Fabric and Fabric API by itself. - Start Minecraft from Prism once and close it again (so it finishes downloading and creates its folders).
- Start How to Fish from the mod manager. Minecraft starts by itself in the background, and Minecraft mode turns on once you are in a game.
Keys
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| F6 | Minecraft mode on / off |
| F5 | Change view (first person, behind, front) |
| F3 + F4 | Minecraft's game mode switcher (hold F3, tap F4, let go) |
| Esc | Minecraft's menu (F6 first to reach How to Fish's menu) |
| E | Inventory (E again closes it) |
| F | The game's own interact (shops, NPCs, boats) |
| F7 | Hide or show Minecraft's HUD |
Settings
Everything can be changed in the mod manager's Config editor (local.fishcraftlink.cfg), each setting with a plain explanation: weapon damage, mob damage, whether the game's creatures fight Minecraft's mobs, lava and explosion damage, the skin shown in third person, hunger, fireworks, fish from explosions, flight, and more.
Good to know
- Some features (paying for fish, hunger, explosions bringing up fish, mobs fighting creatures) only work in a game you host. Playing in someone else's lobby works, but those are up to the host. Multiplayer has had little testing so far.
- Minecraft's own mobs do not spawn by themselves in the linked world; use spawn eggs or commands.
- Flying: the mod never switches you to Survival by itself. To fly, either set
FlightMode = Alwaysin the config (Creative from the start) or switch your own game mode (F3 + F4, or/gamemode creative). - If Minecraft does not start: open Prism once, check the instance is called FishCraft, and start it there to see any error. The game's log (
BepInEx/LogOutput.log) and Minecraft's (logs/latest.login the instance) say what went wrong.
