  • Loadless timing and RTA timing modes.
  • Any% and 100% category selection.
  • Native-font in-game HUD with configurable scale, position, opacity, and visible rows.
  • Automatic splits for the five-island route and game completion.
  • Final time frozen when the last ship interaction is accepted, before the ending cutscene begins.
  • Final result shown during the ending sequence.

  • No gameplay state changes, item grants, movement changes, or progression writes.

Default route

  2. Island 2 — unlock Island 3.
  3. Island 3 — unlock Island 4.
  4. Island 4 — unlock Island 5.
  5. Final Island — receive the final quest reward.
  6. Game Completion — successfully use the last ship and start the ending sequence.

Controls

  • F8 — show or hide the speedrun HUD.
  • F9 — emergency timer reset.

All other settings are available through the BepInEx config file. Installing HowToFishModMenu is optional and provides an in-game settings screen.

Manual installation

Install BepInEx 5, then copy the package contents into the game directory so the included BepInEx folders merge with the existing ones.

Compatibility

  • How to Fish 1.0.4
  • BepInEx 5.4.23.5

Speedrun rules can differ between communities. Confirm the accepted timing method and split policy before submitting a leaderboard run.
