zPaulin's A10-Warthog

Description

This mod adds an A-10 Warthog you can fly.

A pilot on an aircraft carrier sells it to you. The carrier is anchored off the last island, the one with the volcano. He wants $200,000 for it. Once you have paid, the jet is parked on the deck and you can take it out whenever you like.

It flies like an arcade game, not like a flight simulator. You point the mouse where you want to go and the plane goes there. The islands are small, so a realistic turning circle would be wider than the island you are trying to circle, and that would not be fun.

The 30mm cannon works. It does real damage to fish and to other players, if the host has friendly fire on.

Installation instructions

1. Install BepInEx 5.4.23 or newer, the x64 Mono build, into your How to Fish folder. That is the folder with How to Fish.exe in it.
2. Start the game once and close it. This lets BepInEx create its folders.
3. Unzip this mod into the same folder. The files belong in BepInEx/plugins/HowToFish.Warthog.
4. Start the game.

To check it worked, type /a10 in the chat. It will tell you the version and whether the model loaded.

Main features

• An A-10 you can buy, fly and shoot with.
• A working 30mm cannon with tracers, impacts and its own sound.
• An aircraft carrier off the volcano island, with a ladder up the side so you can get aboard from your boat.
• A pilot who sells you the jet, with something to say first.
• A flight HUD with speed, altitude, heading, G, ammo and a radar. Press H to hide the control list.
• Landing gear on G. Land badly and you wreck the plane.
• Multiplayer. Other players see your jet, and they can be shot by it.
• Solid bodywork, so you can walk into the plane and stand on a parked one.
• Most of it can be changed in the config file if you want it to behave differently.

• Mouse: aim
• W and S: pitch
• A and D: roll
• Shift and Ctrl: throttle
• Q and E: rudder, and steering on the ground
• Left mouse: cannon
• Right mouse: look around
• Space: wheel brakes
• G: landing gear
• F: get out
• H: hide the control list

Useful commands: /a10 for status, /a10 goto to teleport to the carrier deck, /a10 fly to get in the nearest jet, /a10 recover if you wrecked yours.

Requirements

• How to Fish on Steam.
• BepInEx 5.4.23 or newer, x64 Mono build.

For multiplayer, everyone in the game needs the mod, and everyone needs the same version. There is no way to install it only on the host. If versions do not match, expect the jets to look wrong to each other.

The aircraft model is Low poly A-10 Warthog by SIpriv, from Sketchfab, used under CC BY 4.0. It has been scaled and set up for this game, but the model itself is his work.
