SCOTCHCORE
Maintains horror while Twitch viewers can mess with streamers.SCOTCHCORE: The Only Joy in the Universe is Yours
SCOTCHCORE aims to maintain the horror gameplay of Lethal Company when playing with a large group or streaming - for example, any "quality of life" changes do not make the game easier: You'll find no extra inventory slots or dedicated torch buttons here.
As this pack evolved, it became more ridiculous as a spectacle for viewers: You will start on a giant ship with three floors to accommodate playing with a small army. Players can put on outrageous character models and emote dance in the casino. But the founding principle remains: This is a horror game. Scary locations. Strange enemies. Zombies that are extremely good at pretending to be your friends. A game engine that hates you.
VR
VR is temporarily unsupported due to how much pressure this Modpack puts on the host. If they're in VR too, things get funky.
VR and flatscreen scavengers can play together seamlessly: Mods have been chosen which amplify the strange and otherworldly experience of LCVR. For example, someone can shoot you with the shrink-ray, pick you up, and you will have the VR experience of being 4" tall in the palm of another player's hand.
Make sure SteamVR is already running before starting the game from your mod manager. When playing without VR, a popup will appear on the main menu saying LCVR didn't start. If you never intend to use a headset yourself, just click the "Disable VR" button and it won't bother you again (the mod will still run in the background so you can see the real body movements of VR players, etc)
Streamers
Chat can vote on events at each Moon: Perhaps they'll give you 200 credits. Perhaps they'll spawn 4 Ghost Girls. Just add your Twitch username on the front screen.
For even more bullying this pack includes the 'Crowd Control' mod. Follow its instruction if you wish to have a Twitch overlay from which viewers can use channel points or bits to trigger events that help and hinder, from teleportation to spawning monsters.
What's New?
Some behaviours have changed to add more suspense and horror. There are new enemies and rare events. Many enemies have new, surprise abilities, and they do not like you. When spectating you can press 'E' to monitor enemies, and use push-to-talk to speak through them: This is especially good for speaking through your own 'zombie', helping it play-act as part of the team until it gets someone alone.
Housekeeping
If you run into compatibility problems you may simply need to delete the entire profile and download / hit update again. This is because new Moons and Monsters are frequently swapped in*, but updating a Modpack does not delete mods, so ones that have become incompatible will persist until you manually erase them.
If you have 16GB of RAM consider closing your mod manager after launching the game, since r2 and Overwolf take a chunk.
*SCOTCHCORE aims to stay within 8GB of RAM, which necessitates removing content on occasion to make room for new experiences. You've got to keep your crew on their toes!
