Shutter Doors

Shutter Doors

Shutter Doors are a custom obstacle added by Welcome to Ooblterra.

Description

Shutter Doors connect rooms together when their doorways are large; sometimes they are static, but some instead descend gradually as they are passed under. There is no easy visual distinction between the two types, though the latter type will make a loud clicking sound when walked under, and of course descend slightly.

Strategy

Since shutters are closed by being passed under, it is best for players to split up when encountering one; this way, they can minimize the risk of it closing completely shut. Shutter door increments are scaled by the number of players in the lobby, so are more generous if you are with more players. Once entirely shut, a player inside cannot escape and must be teleported out, unless The Machine is powered on. Monsters will be able to pass freely through shutters, however.

If moving a large quantity of scrap past a shutter, it is best to drop all that scrap near the shutter, pass under, and then grab it through from the other side. This way, you will only have to move past the shutter once or twice.

If a path is a dead end with no scrap or other interest behind it, a player can repeatedly move back and forth underneath the shutter to intentionally mark it as a dead end.
