BetterDisconnectReasons

Fixes misleading disconnect messages and automatically tries to reconnect after an unexpected disconnect from a Lethal Company server.

Important: BetterDisconnectReasons conflicts with V73dcfix.

Disable or remove hu_luo_bo_ya-V73dcfix before using BetterDisconnectReasons. Do not run both mods at the same time. V73dcfix changes the same client disconnect behavior BetterDisconnectReasons uses for its reconnect check.

The problem

Lethal Company can show generic or misleading messages after a disconnect. BetterDisconnectReasons saves the Steam disconnect info the client receives, then tries the game's normal reconnect path to get a better answer.

What it does

• Watches for unexpected client disconnects from the server.
• Saves the host Steam ID and the original Steam disconnect info.
• Tries to reconnect to the same host automatically.
• If the server accepts the reconnect, you rejoin automatically.
• If the server rejects it, the mod uses that vanilla rejection plus the saved Steam disconnect info to choose a clearer message when possible.
• Replaces the vanilla kicked rejection with "You were kicked.".
• If the game starts or the server becomes full before the reconnect finishes, it can show that instead of a generic disconnect message.
• If the old server can no longer be reached, it shows "Server no longer exists." instead of a generic error.

Automatic reconnect

If the server accepts the reconnect, you rejoin instead of being sent back to the main menu.

If the reconnect is rejected or the server cannot be reached, the mod stops and shows the best reason it has.

What it does not change

• The host does not need BetterDisconnectReasons.
• It does not add custom networking or require custom messages from the host.
• It does not change intentional/local vanilla disconnects.
• It cannot make a closed server available again.
• It cannot tell every disconnect case apart when vanilla returns the same rejection for different situations.

Compatibility

• Targets Lethal Company v81.
• Client-side only.
• Intended for Steam/online sessions; LAN connections are left to vanilla behavior.
• The host does not need the mod.
• Requires BepInEx 5.
• Incompatible with hu_luo_bo_ya-V73dcfix. Disable V73dcfix before using BetterDisconnectReasons.

Installation

1. Disable or remove V73dcfix if it is installed.
2. Install BetterDisconnectReasons with Thunderstore Mod Manager/r2modman, or place ZaboomafooW-BetterDisconnectReasons-v1.0.1.dll in BepInEx/plugins.
3. Do not enable BetterDisconnectReasons and V73dcfix together.
