Palinode
An experimental surreal SS moon beneath an inverted ocean. Nearby entrances, dangerous outdoor tides, hostile wildlife and valuable scrap. Designed for random interiors.074 — PALINODE
Risk: SS · Route: 1,250 credits · Experimental release 0.1.0
An ocean hangs above a black basin. Office towers descend from the water, enormous white ripples turn overhead, and a cold sun pulses at the edge of the landing site. The Company has marked the population as “awaiting correction.”
PALINODE adds a separate moon with a code-generated exterior. It does not replace Experimentation in the terminal.
Close entrances, dangerous extraction
- Main entrance: about 25 metres ahead of the ship's ramp marker.
- Fire exit: about 15 metres to the right.
- Flat approaches, illuminated path markers and amber refuges. No ladder, jump or key is required.
- Negative tides activate after the first 30% of the day. A warning tone and HUD message precede a damaging pulse. Stand on an amber refuge or return to the ship.
- A tide cycle has 48 quiet seconds, 8 warning seconds and 16 active seconds. Exposure has a short grace period, then deals 20 damage per second, rising to 25 late in the day.
- Eyeless dogs and forest giants create additional exterior pressure. Outdoor spawn probability increases through the day.
The ship interior and dungeon are protected from tide damage. Refuges protect against the tide, not enemies. Stay within the basin; the edge is a lethal drop.
Loot
The moon requests 26–32 scrap pieces and applies a 2.5× value multiplier during its scrap generation. The pool starts from Titan's existing scrap pool and increases the selection weight of its higher-value items. Other mods, dungeon spawn points and game multipliers can change the final count and value. The mod does not include new custom scrap models.
Random interiors
No custom dungeon is bundled. PALINODE does not patch dungeon selection, force a particular interior, or overwrite Random_Interiors configuration. Its outdoor hazards work independently of the selected interior.
Random_Interiors is optional. Enable PALINODE in that mod's moon settings if your configuration excludes newly added moons. Interiors must support the standard main entrance and at least one fire exit. Mods that replace Experimentation's exterior scene may conflict because PALINODE uses that scene's ship, entrance and networking infrastructure before replacing its exterior geometry.
Installation
Install with Thunderstore Mod Manager or r2modman and allow the listed dependencies to install. For manual installation, copy Palinode.dll into BepInEx/plugins/Palinode/ in your mod profile.
The host and every client need the same PALINODE version and compatible dependencies. Restart the game after installing. Type palinode at the terminal to route.
Dependencies: BepInExPack 5.4.2305 and LethalLevelLoader 1.7.13, including the loader's transitive dependencies. Built against Lethal Company v81.
Release status
This is an experimental first release. A local v81 smoke test passed moon registration, landing, Random_Interiors selecting the mansion, and scripted main-entrance and fire-exit round trips. That run generated 31 scrap pieces worth 4,179 credits. This does not certify full multiplayer or modpack compatibility. A second-client session and a full expedition with your chosen interior pack are still required before treating compatibility and balance as fully verified.
The exterior uses generated geometry and existing game infrastructure. Scenery and refuge canopies are visual; amber floor areas define tide protection. No game assemblies or other mods are redistributed in this package.
Removal
Route to a different moon and save before removing PALINODE. Then remove this mod through your mod manager. Keep the dependencies if other mods use them.
