Mimic

Some paid chests are mimics. You pay the coins, the chest vanishes, and a buffed mob stands where it was. Kill that mob and it drops the powerup the chest would have given, plus one White. Chat tells the whole lobby, vanilla players included: "The chest was a Mimic! Kill it to claim the loot.", then "The Mimic dropped its loot." when it dies.

Free chests stay normal. A chest that does not roll a mimic drops loot as usual.

Multiplayer

Only the host needs this mod. Vanilla clients receive the game's own chest, mob, and powerup packets. The host's Mimic settings are the ones that matter. A client with the mod does nothing.

If the host also runs a mod that adds powerups, a mimic can drop one of those. A vanilla client has the same problem with a normal chest on that host.

Config

BepInEx/config/evan.muck.mimic.cfg, created on first launch. Set Chance to 1 to test.

Setting Default
Enabled true Turn mimics off without removing the mod
Chance 0.06 Chance a paid chest is a mimic. Not from the game
MobMultiplier 1.75 Same multiplier as the Battle Totem. The mob is drawn larger and drops extra mob loot. 1 is a normal mob
LateMobFromDay 5 From this currentDay on, spawn LateMobName. The first day in Update 4 is 0
EarlyMobName Goblin Name used before that day. Goblin is a name the game checks on kill
LateMobName Stone Golem Name used from that day on. Stone Golem is a real mob in the game, so every late mimic is a buffed Stone Golem. A name that matches no mob, a boss, or a cow falls back to a random Battle Totem mob
ExtraWhite true Also drop one White when the mimic dies
ChatMessages true Tell the lobby in chat when a chest is a mimic and when it drops its loot
VerboseLogging false Log rolls, the mob table, spawns, deaths, drops, and forgotten mimics
