Nivalis Better Time
Adjust the clock, wait until a chosen time, and balance customer arrivals. Includes in-game settings and controller support.Nivalis Better Time
Manual loader installation required: use BepInEx 6 IL2CPP Windows x64 build 788. The currently listed Thunderstore IL2CPP pack (6.0.755) is older than the loader used for gameplay testing. This package does not install or upgrade the loader automatically. Follow the manual installation steps below.
I made Better Time because I wanted more time to explore Nivalis and run my business without the day disappearing around me. It lets you set the clock speed and wait until a chosen time, with controls built into the game's menus.
Longer days also gave customers more opportunities to visit, so I added arrival balancing. The aim is to give you more breathing room without turning every slow day into an endless rush at the noodle stand.
I've tested the current release in my own playthrough. It is updated for official Update #2, Steam build 25680465.
Features
- Adjustable clock speed from 0.0 to 2.0 in Settings > Gameplay. Use 1.0 for normal time, 0.5 for half speed, or 0.0 to freeze the natural clock. New installations default to 0.3.
- One-decimal controls. A value of 0.51 becomes 0.5, while 0.56 becomes 0.6. The displayed and saved values agree.
- A wait menu with duration and arrival-time selection. Open it with T on keyboard or LT/L2 on a controller by default.
- Keyboard and controller support for the mod's UI, with a rebindable WAIT action in Settings > Controls.
- Business simulation during waiting. Customers, stock, orders, deliveries and hourly staff payments continue through the skipped time. Your takings depend on what the business can serve, and expenses still count.
- Customer-arrival balancing enabled by default. Slower clocks reduce opportunities for new restaurant visits; existing diners, walking, animations and staff actions keep their normal pace.
- Curfew-aware waiting. Waiting stops at 02:00 and becomes available again at 08:00. Use a bed during curfew.
- Post-wait NPC refresh and placement checks. Task changes refresh presentation and attached props; placement checks account for occupied space and navigable ground while preserving seated customers.
Balance and settings
Hunger, fatigue, repeat-visit cooldowns and staff wages already follow the game's clock. Better Time preserves those rules. At half clock speed, scheduled hourly pay is spaced twice as far apart in real time; waiting still processes the hours you skip.
Arrival balancing reduces opportunities for new visits; the number of customers and sales still depends on the business. It can be disabled with ScaleCustomerArrivals = false under [Balance] in BepInEx/config/hvizeu.nivalis.slowdays.cfg. At clock speeds of 1.0 or higher, the game's normal customer eligibility applies.
Clock-based quests, conversations and schedules also take longer to reach in real time when you slow the clock. Very low speeds can make waiting take longer to process. Escape closes the wait menu or requests cancellation; completed time and transactions are retained. If the clock is frozen, an explicit wait uses normal-speed simulation.
Installation
Tested on Nivalis Nights for Windows x64, official Update #2, Steam build 25680465. Requires BepInEx 6 IL2CPP for Windows x64; the tested loader is 6.0.0-be.788+5b766a3.
- Save and close the game. Back up
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Ion Lands\Nivalis Nights. - In Steam, open the game's Manage > Browse local files menu.
- If you do not already have the required loader, extract BepInEx IL2CPP Windows x64 into the folder containing
Nivalis Nights.exe. Launch once to let it initialize, then close the game. The first initialization can take a while. The BepInEx installation guide has more detail. - Extract the mod's
BepInExfolder into that same game folder and merge the folders when prompted. - When updating, replace the old DLL and keep only one copy of this mod under
BepInEx/plugins. Keep your existing configuration.
The installed plugin should be at BepInEx/plugins/NivalisSlowDays/NivalisSlowDays.dll.
To uninstall, close the game and remove that DLL. Keep BepInEx if your other mods use it.
Remove old Half, Quarter or Eighth Speed DLL variants before installing Better Time. Other mods that change the clock or business simulation may conflict.
Feedback and support
If the longer days make Nivalis more enjoyable for you, an endorsement or rating helps other players find the mod. If something goes wrong, include your game version, other mods and the steps that led to it, along with BepInEx/LogOutput.log and Player.log. Reports with that detail are much easier to investigate.
