PeakCats
Adopt adorable pet cats that follow you up the mountain! They nap, purr, meow, climb, grow up from kittens, can be held, petted, fed and carry items. Own status bar. Multiplayer. Press C to adopt.PeakCats 🐾
Adopt super cute pet cats in PEAK. They wander around, nap, groom, climb after you, meow and purr, have their own status bar just like yours, and can be picked up, cuddled, petted and thrown. Works in multiplayer.
Features
- 8 cats: Snowball (white), Shadow (black), Marmalade (ginger tabby), Patches (calico), Tux (tuxedo), Smokey (grey), Sapphire (siamese) and a fluffy Tabby Kitten. Each has its own personality (lazy or playful) and voice.
- Alive: walk, trot, sit, groom, stretch, loaf, curl up and sleep (with slow breathing), bat at things, stick with their owner whenever they're awake (sleeping cats stay put), slow-blink at you, ear twitches and tail swishes. Eyes and pupils really move.
- Physics: cats are real rigidbodies. They bump into you and into things, always land on their feet, climb walls with stamina, hop up ledges and jump down after you.
- Status bar: stamina, injury, hunger, cold, heat, poison, drowsiness and weight, shown above each cat like the player bar. Cats feel the same things you do (night cold, fog, blizzards, desert sun, lava, falls) and pass out if the bar fills. Campfires and cuddles warm them up, naps heal them, and you can feed them (or they'll eat food you drop). Food does exactly what it does for you: the same hunger, and the same effects (a Big Lollipop means a sugar rush, then a drowsy crash; energy drinks make them zoomy). Bad berries poison cats too, and cats refuse mushrooms, cactus, mandrake, aloe and scorchberries (configurable).
- Carry things: give a cat any item and it wears it on its back. The item's real weight counts on the cat's status bar.
- Hold them: pick a cat up and it sits in your arms (the hand slot, not your hotbar). Switching slots puts it down, or you can stash it in a backpack. It weighs nothing and keeps its state, so a sleeping cat stays asleep in your arms. Hold still for 30 s and an awake cat falls asleep on you. A sleeping cat in your arms slowly calms you (a tiny stamina bonus).
- Petting: hold left click for about half a second. Your hand strokes its back, it purrs and kneads, and hearts float up.
- Kittens grow up: new cats start as kittens (bigger eyes, squeakier meows, extra playful) and grow 30% bigger into adults over 30 minutes of play together (configurable). Petting and feeding help them grow. You can also adopt a grown cat directly.
- Collars: pick a collar for your cat when adopting: red, pink, sky blue, mint, sunshine, lavender, black or rainbow, each with a little gold bell.
- Campfire naps: when you rest at a lit campfire, cats wander over, curl up by the flames and doze off, purring.
- Shoulder riding: pop your cat onto your shoulders (on top of your backpack if you wear one). It loafs, purrs and naps there while your hands stay free to climb, and it adds a little weight to your bar. It hops off by itself if you pass out.
- Rope and vine climbing: cats scramble up ropes and vines right behind you, following your exact path, and hop off where you got off.
- Eats like a scout: food gives a cat exactly what it gives you: the same hunger, and the same effects. A Big Lollipop means a sugar rush (infinite stamina, gold bar), then a drowsy crash. Energy drinks make them zoomy, and bonus stamina shows as a yellow strip. Cats won't touch mushrooms, cactus, mandrake, aloe or scorchberries (configurable).
- Survives the whole mountain: cats keep well clear of lava, run when the Kiln's lava rises, hate water (they wait at the edge and groom themselves dry), and dig their claws in when the wind howls.
- Comes along: cats you have in the airport lobby come with you to the island (and back after the run) - they hop in right next to you once you wake up on the beach.
- Never lost: if a cat falls off the world or gets left behind when the mountain moves on, it lands on its feet next to you.
- Loyal: if you pass out, your cat rushes to your side and waits, worried, until you're back up.
- Ghost cats: if you fully die, your cat's spirit goes with you. Its little skeleton stays where it stood, and a see-through ghost cat rises out and slowly flies up the mountain to the scout statue, then floats on the statue's shoulder, waiting. Ghosts can't be hurt. When you're revived, your cat comes back to life right beside you.
- Summit Kitty!: reach the Peak with your cat and you'll both be celebrated, and your cat's name goes on the end screen.
- Cat customization: 30 things to dress your cats in (eye colours, hats, shades, capes, wings, a mini backpack, trails and special pelts)
- Warrior markings (free for every cat): paint up to 4 layers on any coat - Thunderstripes, River Ripples, Sky Dapples, Shadow Mask, Windflecks, StarClan Paws, Moonstone Blaze, Frost Chest, Flame Tips, Tortoiseshell, Clanstripe, Leader's Crescent, Battle Scars and the Dark Forest Saddle - each with its own colour, shade, size, strength, softness and variation (or roll a random Warrior look)
- Looks are remembered: adopt a cat with the same name + breed again later (any lobby) and it comes back wearing the same accessories and markings
- Cats copy your emotes: wave, dance, clap, flex, backflip... your cats join in (all in sync, so a lobby full of cats makes a dance party) across 9 slots. Take 1 of your cats to the Peak to unlock 10, 2 cats for 20, and 3 cats for all 30. The last 10 are Warrior-cat themed: StarClan pelt, battle scars, torn ear, clan war paint, moonstone eyes, medicine-cat herbs, a claw necklace, flame and shadow pelts, and a leader's nine lives.
- [Warrior] prefix: bring 3 cats to the Peak together and everyone with PeakCats sees [Warrior] before your name, in the colour you pick.
- Your unlocks follow you: they're saved in your mod profile, tied to your Steam account. r2modman's Export profile as code takes them to another PC.
- Adopt panel (C): pick a cat, give it a name (up to 18 characters) and it hops straight into your arms.

Multiplayer
Everything syncs: spawning, AI mode, movement (the owner simulates, everyone else interpolates), sleep, name and coat, status bar, petting, sounds, pickup, drop and throw. Late joiners get every cat in its current state. Everyone in the lobby needs PeakCats to adopt cats. Players without it won't crash; they just can't see cats, so adopting is paused and you get a notice.
Config (BepInEx/config/com.attackstudioyt.peakcats.cfg)
Panel key, max cats per player (the host's value counts), volume, cat needs on/off, follow owner, status bar size and range, hold-pose tuning and debug logging.
