Guinea Pigs and Their Treats

Frida and Gerda, two guinea pigs, join your climb. They follow you up the mountain, ride in a wicker basket on your back while you climb, nap by the campfire and love their treats. Pet them, feed them, take them to the peak.

Made in memory of Frida and Gerda, two real guinea pigs who were very much loved.

Early version. Everything works in single player, but multiplayer has only been lightly tested so far. If something goes wrong, please let us know — fixes will follow quickly.

Meet the pigs

How to play

Key	What it does
G	Guinea pig menu: call a pig or send it home, switch the language
E (looking at a pig)	Pet it: hold the left mouse button and stroke from head to tail. Smooth, calm strokes make it purr; E or Esc stops. Gerda's patience grows as she learns to trust you
Feed (food in hand, looking at a pig)	The same button as feeding a friend. Pigs eat fresh fruit and vegetables and turn down everything else
J (hold)	Look back: a small window shows your own back, with your pigs riding in the basket

• Following. Pigs keep a little distance from your feet, potter about, lie down and sometimes fall asleep. If you sprint off, they run after you; a pig that falls far behind catches up from behind you, out of sight.
• Riding. When you climb, rope- or vine-climb, or fall, your pigs hop into a wicker basket on your back (hung on your backpack if you wear one). They jump out when you stand still on flat ground for a few seconds, or as soon as you stop at a lit campfire.
• Campfire. By a lit campfire the pigs settle next to the fire, watch the flames and usually doze off.
• Up to 2 pigs per player. To swap, send one home and call the other.
• Pigs can't be hurt and can't die.

Their characters

• Frida now and then comes over on her own, looks up at you and asks to be petted. She's cautious: she sniffs ordinary food before eating it and has a good sniff around after hopping out of the basket.
• Gerda explores: she wanders off to sniff things lying around and luggage. She doesn't trust people at first — feed her, treats most of all, and she'll put up with petting longer and nip less. Trust has to be won again every run.
• Who's the boss? Once in a while the two meet nose to nose and Frida lifts her chin. Usually Gerda gives in; sometimes it turns into a proper argument — teeth chattering, rumble-strutting in circles and a short chase — and the loser washes her face afterwards.
• When Frida is lying down, Gerda sometimes tries to lie next to her. An awake Frida usually sends her away — but a sleeping one doesn't notice.
• They wheek when someone nearby holds food they like, chatter quietly now and then, greet you when they arrive and rumble with pleasure when they love being petted.

Feeding

• Eaten: red and yellow crispberries, berrynanas (not pink), clusterberries, purple kingberry, winterberries, coconut half, medicinal root — and, best of all, the mod's treats.
• Refused: mushrooms, packaged food, sweets, anything from animals, spicy or prickly berries, anything poisonous, the sleepy berry, a suspicious "root" — and anything cooked: guinea pigs only eat fresh food.

Treats

Iceberg lettuce, cucumbers and zucchini grow on the berry bushes of the Shore and the Tropics. They're good for scouts too:

Burnt treats are worse, and incinerated ones poison you, like the game's own food. Guinea pigs love all three — raw.

Multiplayer

Everyone in the lobby needs the mod. Each player can call their own pigs; everyone sees everyone's pigs, can pet them and feed them. If someone without the mod joins, your pigs wait at home until it's safe.

Settings

In BepInEx/config/CavyCrew.GuineaPigsAndTreats.cfg (or your mod manager's config editor):

• SummonKey (G), LookBackKey (J);
• Language: auto follows the game; or en, ru, de;
• PigSize: how big your pigs are (0.8–2, default 1.3);
• TreatsGrowOnBushes: turn treat spawning off (only the host's setting matters).

Languages

English, Russian and German; other languages fall back to English. Translations are simple JSON files: the mod's folder has Lang/en.json — copy it as e.g. fr.json, translate the texts, and it's picked up automatically.

Мод сделан в память о Фриде и Герде — двух настоящих, очень любимых морских свинках.

Ранняя версия. В одиночной игре всё работает, а мультиплеер пока проверен мало. Если что-то пойдёт не так — напишите нам, исправим.

• G — меню свинок: позвать, отпустить домой, язык.
• E (смотришь на свинку) — погладить: зажми ЛКМ и веди от головы к хвосту. Чем плавнее гладишь, тем лучше свинка урчит. Выйти — E или Esc.
• Покормить — с едой в руке, как кормят друга. Свинки едят свежие фрукты и овощи и отказываются от остального, особенно от приготовленного.
• J (зажать) — оглянуться: маленькое окошко со спиной, видно свинок в корзинке.
• Когда ты лезешь, свинки запрыгивают в корзинку на спине; выпрыгивают, когда постоишь на ровном месте или у костра.
• Не больше двух свинок на игрока. Свинки бессмертны.
• Характеры: Фрида иногда сама приходит «за лаской», Герда обнюхивает всё вокруг и учится доверять людям (с угощениями — быстрее). Изредка они выясняют, кто главная, а Герда пытается лечь рядом со спящей Фридой.
• Угощения: салат айсберг, огурцы и кабачки растут на ягодных кустах Берега и Тропиков. Огурец освежает в жару, сырой кабачок слегка ядовит, жареный — очень сытный.
• Мультиплеер: мод нужен всем в лобби.

Frida und Gerda, zwei Meerschweinchen, begleiten dich auf den Berg. Sie folgen dir, reisen beim Klettern in einem Weidenkorb auf deinem Rücken, dösen am Lagerfeuer und lieben ihre Leckerbissen.

Gewidmet Frida und Gerda, zwei echten, sehr geliebten Meerschweinchen.

Frühe Version. Im Einzelspieler funktioniert alles, der Mehrspieler ist bisher nur wenig getestet. Wenn etwas nicht klappt, sag uns bitte Bescheid.

• G — Meerschweinchen-Menü: rufen, nach Hause schicken, Sprache.
• E (auf ein Meerschweinchen schauen) — streicheln: linke Maustaste halten und vom Kopf zum Schwanz streichen. Je sanfter, desto schöner das Schnurren. E oder Esc beendet.
• Füttern — mit Essen in der Hand, wie beim Füttern eines Freundes. Sie fressen frisches Obst und Gemüse und lehnen alles andere ab, vor allem Gekochtes.
• J (halten) — zurückschauen: ein kleines Fenster zeigt deinen Rücken mit den Meerschweinchen im Korb.
• Beim Klettern hüpfen sie in den Korb; sie springen heraus, wenn du auf ebenem Boden stehen bleibst oder am Lagerfeuer.
• Höchstens zwei Meerschweinchen pro Spieler. Sie können nicht verletzt werden.
• Charaktere: Frida kommt manchmal von selbst zum Kuscheln, Gerda beschnuppert alles und lernt, Menschen zu vertrauen (mit Leckerbissen schneller). Ab und zu klären die beiden, wer die Chefin ist, und Gerda versucht, sich neben die schlafende Frida zu legen.
• Leckerbissen: Eisbergsalat, Gurken und Zucchini wachsen an den Beerensträuchern von Strand und Tropen. Gurke kühlt bei Hitze, rohe Zucchini ist leicht giftig, gekocht sehr sättigend.
• Mehrspieler: Alle in der Lobby brauchen den Mod.
