BetterRoomShare
Enhanced room sharing features.BetterRoomShare
Adds custom room codes and improves Steam invites for PEAK.
Use BetterRoomShare 0.1.3 or newer with PEAK 3.0.
Features
Custom room names
Replace the random part of a hosted room code with your own suffix by enabling
EnableCustomRoomName.
PEAK 3.0 generates room codes like <region><platform+mod-state><random-chars>. With this feature
enabled, hosted rooms are named:
<region><platform+mod-state><suffix>
For example, DAABCD is a possible six-character code for an EU room on Windows marked as
using mods, with the default ABCD suffix. Players can enter a six-character ASCII code
without this mod when the game recognizes its region and platform codes. Manual code entry
displays a warning before joining rooms marked as using mods.
By default, the game's original region and combined platform/mod-state character are preserved.
Set CustomRoomPlatformCode to override the second character. Only the first character of a
non-empty value is used, exactly as configured. This overrides both the platform and mod-state
information used by the join screen: on Windows, A/B indicate mods and C/D indicate no
mods. Use an uppercase character; leave the setting empty to preserve the game's generated value.
The suffix can contain non-ASCII characters, such as Chinese. Steam invites transmit these room names as UTF-8. Both the host and the invited player need BetterRoomShare 0.1.2 or newer to join a non-ASCII room name through a Steam invite. ASCII room names remain compatible with the game's original invite encoding. For manual code entry, use uppercase ASCII letters in the suffix and platform code: the join screen converts the entered code to uppercase, while the hosted room name is used as configured.
Variable room code length
Lift the fixed length restriction on the join room input.
Vanilla requires exactly six characters. With EnableVariableRoomCodeLength enabled, the
join screen accepts codes of at least two characters, including codes created with a shorter
or longer suffix. A player entering a code whose length is not six needs this option enabled
on their own client. The rest of the game's validation and join flow is unchanged.
