PEAK Death Printer

Print a physical death report every time a player dies in PEAK.

The report currently includes:

• Player username
• Real-world date and time
• Death cause
• A random funny death message

The current version uses GENERAL as the death cause. More specific death causes will be added in a future update.

Installation

1. Install the PEAK mod

Install PEAK Death Printer using your preferred Thunderstore mod manager.

After installation, the mod should be located in:

PEAK/BepInEx/plugins/

The following files should be present:

com.firren.peakdeathprinter.dll

death_messages.txt

Do not delete or rename these files.

2. Download the printer program

The printer program is a separate Windows application.

Download PeakDeathPrinter.exe from:

https://github.com/Firren0003/PeakDeathPrinter/releases/tag/v1.0.0

Download PeakDeathPrinter.exe from the GitHub release.

The printer program is a single-file executable, so no additional DLL files are required.

You can place the EXE anywhere you want, such as your Desktop.

3. Start the printer program

Start:

PeakDeathPrinter.exe

Keep this program running while you play PEAK.

The program automatically searches for the PEAK Death Printer mod and finds the correct PEAK profile.

It also automatically detects printers installed in Windows.

Examples:

• HP printers
• Epson printers
• Canon printers
• Brother printers
• Microsoft Print to PDF
• OneNote
• Other Windows-installed printers

4. Select your printer

Start PEAK.

Once you are in the game, press:

F8

This opens the PEAK Death Printer menu.

Select the printer you want to use.

Your selected printer is saved automatically, so you should not need to select it every time.

Press Close when finished.

5. Play

That's it.

Play PEAK normally.

When a player dies:

1. PEAK detects the death.
2. The mod creates a death report.
3. The printer program detects the report.
4. The selected Windows printer prints the report.
5. The temporary death report is deleted.

Death Messages

Death messages are stored in:

BepInEx/plugins/death_messages.txt

You can edit this file to add your own messages.

The file uses categories.

For example:

[GENERAL]

Then put messages underneath it:

you suck brochacho.

just delete the game atp.

bro really died.

The mod randomly chooses one of the messages from the selected category.

More death categories will be used as specific death-cause detection is added.

Printer program

Stores your selected printer.

Printer list

BepInEx/plugins/printers.txt

Contains the printers detected by Windows.

Death report

BepInEx/plugins/death_report.txt

A temporary file created when somebody dies.

It is automatically deleted after the report is printed.

Important

PeakDeathPrinter.exe must be running while you play.

The PEAK mod and printer program are separate.

The PEAK mod detects the death and creates the report.

The printer program watches for the report and communicates with Windows to print it.

Troubleshooting

"No death message found."

Make sure this file exists:

PEAK/BepInEx/plugins/death_messages.txt

Make sure it contains a [GENERAL] section with at least one message.

No printers appear

Make sure your printer is installed and visible in Windows.

Restart PeakDeathPrinter.exe after installing a new printer.

F8 does nothing

Make sure the PEAK mod is installed correctly and that:

com.firren.peakdeathprinter.dll

is inside:

BepInEx/plugins/

Also make sure you are running the current version of the mod.

Nothing prints

Make sure:

• PeakDeathPrinter.exe is running.
• A printer has been selected with F8.
• The selected printer is turned on and available in Windows.

Printer Recommendation

This mod works with both inkjet and laser printers.

A laser printer is recommended because toner can generally be cheaper per printed page than ink, especially if the mod is printing lots of death reports.

You can use either type of printer.
