MimicReplay

MimicReplay creates player-shaped impostors that replay recorded movement, appearance, held-object visuals, and short voice fragments before switching to chase and attack behaviour.

During a chase, mimics mirror the target player's crouch or crawl posture and reduce their physical capsule so they can pursue players hiding beneath low furniture when the level navigation permits it.

Mimics have configurable health. R.E.P.O. hurt colliders and sufficiently hard physical impacts damage and push them; reaching zero health removes the mimic.

The host can automatically spawn mimics from recent player route points. Candidate points must be nearby, directly visible, on the NavMesh, and have enough free capsule space. The automatic population starts at one and grows over time up to the configured maximum (seven by default).

Controls

  • F7 — spawn a mimic after enough history has been recorded
  • F8 — remove all local mimics
  • F9 — toggle noclip flight (WASD, Space, Ctrl/C, Shift to boost)
  • F10 — toggle spectator protection
  • F6 — toggle debug trails
  • F5 — add the configured amount of run currency (host/singleplayer only)

All keys and gameplay values can be changed in BepInEx/config/com.schetnikov.repo.mimicreplay.cfg.

Multiplayer

Mimics are synchronized mod-to-mod using Photon events. Every player who needs to see and hear them must install the same MimicReplay version. Unmodded clients do not contain the code or prefab needed to display them. Existing mimics are not guaranteed to appear for players who join late.

Only the creating client is authoritative for mimic attacks. Public multiplayer support is experimental.

Voice privacy

The mod samples voice audio already received by the local R.E.P.O. client and keeps short phrases in memory for mimic playback. It does not intentionally write recorded voice phrases to disk or upload them to an external service. All captured phrases are discarded when the process ends.

Tell players that voice replay is enabled before using the mod in multiplayer.

Current limitations

  • Navigation, doors, thresholds, and animation matching remain experimental.
  • Mimics may desynchronize between clients.
  • Player appearance cloning depends on the current R.E.P.O. hierarchy and may break after game updates.
  • Noclip, spectator mode, and currency controls are intended for testing or private sessions.
