Featherguard Drone

Featherguard is a new shop drone for R.E.P.O. that combines the Feather Drone and Indestructible Drone in one custom item.

It includes a completely custom animated model, balanced pricing and battery behaviour, compound physics, multiplayer support, and automatic recovery when a wall separates a drone from its target.

Features

• Combines the effects of the Feather Drone and Indestructible Drone.
• Appears as a separate item in the regular shop.
• Can be spawned through compatible admin menus as Item Drone Featherguard.
• Uses a custom black, white and red armoured model.
• Features animated folding wings, visible internal wiring, and a glowing front lens.
• Emits its beam directly from the front lens.
• Uses a compound spherical collider with invisible stabilisers and a central anti-roll keel.
• Preserves the original particle materials, so impact dust keeps its normal colour.

Wall Recovery

R.E.P.O. drones can become trapped behind walls when their target is moved close to an obstacle. This mod extends the game's existing recovery system to handle that short-distance case.

• Checks the direct path between a drone and the actual attachment point on its target.
• Covers both the attached state and the brief attachment-search state.
• Ignores the drone's own colliders, the target's colliders, and triggers.
• Requires a persistent obstruction before taking action, preventing unnecessary teleports.
• Uses the game's original safe-position search, teleport effects, and multiplayer synchronisation.
• Applies wall recovery to all standard R.E.P.O. drones, not only Featherguard.

Balance

• Price: the combined price range of the Feather Drone and Indestructible Drone.
• Battery drain: the same rate as the Indestructible Drone.
• Charging-station cost: equal to charging both original drones together.
• Battery capacity: follows the original drone system.

Installation

Thunderstore Mod Manager or r2modman

Install the package and launch R.E.P.O. with Start modded.

Manual installation

Install BepInEx and REPOLib, then place FeatherguardDrone.dll inside a folder under BepInEx/plugins.

Multiplayer

All players should install Featherguard Drone and its dependencies before joining the same lobby.

Wall detection and teleport decisions are performed by the host, while the game synchronises the result with other players.

Compatibility

Developed and tested for R.E.P.O. v0.4.4.3.
