Paradise City
Burnout Paradise's whole open world as a skate map, plus its five districts as smaller maps. We are lowkey proud of getting this thing working lol. The size was a major issue; introducing custom LOD to allow for reasonable framerates.Paradise City

Just install and play.
How to play it
- Install it with the ReSkate launcher (or your mod manager), then start the game.
- Pause, press Q twice for MOD OPTIONS, and pick Paradise City (the whole map) or one of the districts under Custom Maps.
- The whole map is big: the first load takes a little longer than a stock map.
By hand: unzip it into its own folder, <skate. folder>\Mods\PetalToTheMetal-Paradise_City\, so that
reskate-levels.json sits directly in that folder. Then start the game through ReSkate.
Requirements
- skate. (Steam) started through ReSkate, on the game build this version was made for (the launcher says if it isn't).
- About 2.3 GB of disk space.
- For the whole map, a graphics card with 8 GB of video memory. On smaller cards, play the district maps.
The six maps
| Map | What's in it | Size before merging |
|---|---|---|
| Paradise City | everything: the whole mainland plus Big Surf Island | 1.4 GB |
| Paradise City: City + Palm Bay Heights | Downtown and Palm Bay Heights | 623 MB |
| Paradise City: Harbor Town | the docks, the car plant and the harbour | 475 MB |
| Paradise City: Silver Lake + Crystal Summit | the lake, the dam, the Aerodrome and the Observatory | 534 MB |
| Paradise City: White Mountain | the mountain roads, the Quarry and the Wind Farm | 575 MB |
| Paradise City: Big Surf Island | the island and its bridge | 400 MB |
Getting around
- Going faster: I highly recommend ReSkate's
forwardvelocitysetting with a key bound to it: it gives you a push on the long roads. This map was NEVER designed to be skated on lmao.
Known limits
- The replay editor appears to crash the game on the whole map. Use it on one of the district maps instead.
- Trainer spots are only on the whole map, and a few bus stops near district edges (Deadman's Diner, the top and bottom of the dam, a junkyard) are only on the whole map too.
- Some ramp ends and steps still have a lip. Hit them at an angle or ollie them.
- Far-away scenery is a lighter, lower-detail version of the map, to keep the frame rate up.
- No traffic or pedestrians yet, and smashable things (gates, barriers, billboards) don't break.
- Time of day: the map doesn't follow ReSkate's time of day or weather yet.
- It's heavy on video memory. Tested at 100+ fps on an RTX 3060 Ti and 150+ fps on an RTX 3070 (8 GB).
Troubleshooting
- The maps aren't listed: check that the launcher shows the mod as enabled and not OUTDATED, then look in
<skate. folder>\logs\ReSkate.log. - OUTDATED after a skate. update: maps are built for one exact game build. Wait for the updated version on this page.
- Slow first load or a crash on loading: turn off other map mods and try again, or try a district map.
We have released this map as V0.8 as we know there are still things to be fixed and improved; your feedback is invaluable.
Found a problem?
Tell us in the thread under the Paradise City post in the ReSkate Discord's #mod-releases channel. Say which map,
where (type trainer where in the console and copy what it says), what happened, and add a screenshot if you can.
