Realistic Progression
ALPHA: Learn tricks through practice, build consistency, and unlock lesson categories with a Skate-styled progression HUD.Realistic Progression — Alpha
Start with the basics. Learn new tricks through practice, build consistency, and work through Skatepedia-based lesson categories.
This is an alpha testing release. Bugs and incomplete trick recognition are still possible. More lessons and refinements will be added over time.
Features
- Basics tutorial: ollie, nollie, body spins, 50-50, manual and nose manual.
- Choose Flip Tricks, Dark Tricks, Grinds, Grabs or Plants after Basics.
- Complete each lesson to unlock the next lesson in that category. Category selection queues lessons in order.
- Riding earns XP; actual practice landings are required to complete lessons.
- Consistency improves through successful inputs and landings. Initial stick-control requirement is 90%, easing with practice; at 100% consistency, added execution failures stop.
- Unlearned tricks are gated in Learning mode. Switch and fakie share regular base unlocks and consistency; nollie and directional trick distinctions remain separate.
- Skate-styled HUD and welcome card using assets supplied by ReSkate.
- Practice statistics, lesson selection, and progression reset in the mod menu.
Installation
Requires ReSkate 2.1.3 or newer with scripting support. This alpha was tested on 2.1.3; later releases may change compatibility.
- Open ReSkate Launcher → MODS and find Realistic Progression in its Thunderstore browser.
- Click Install. The launcher's mod manager installs the package automatically.
- Launch the game and enable the progression plugin in MODS if prompted.
- Press Insert → Realistic Progression and begin the Basics tutorial.
- After completing Basics, choose a lesson category.
For local alpha testing before the listing is published, import this ZIP through ReSkate Launcher's mod manager.
The welcome card appears once gameplay is ready. Press Enter or controller B to dismiss it, or let it close automatically after 30 seconds. It does not pause gameplay.
Learning and normal movement
Added physical bail requests are limited to solo play near a detected ground surface. In multiplayer, do not expect the mod to enforce physical trick locks. Native game falls can always occur.
Riding actions, spins, reverts, trickless airs, boned ollies, on-foot movement, and slappy entry do not require separate learning. Learned grinds use native stability; steering is not scored as grind-balance accuracy.
Known limitations
- All underflip lessons are deferred, including hospital flips, flower flips and nollie variants. Recognized underflip-category tricks are free from progression penalties and award no lesson credit.
- ReSkate's scripting feed sometimes reports only a base trick rather than its underflip distinction. Those cases cannot be reliably separated yet.
- Dark catches produce additional HUD entries when released. The mod retains a confirmed catch through its darkflip exit. Dark-grind behavior needs further confirmation.
- Stick control is a measured input-quality score, not the game's own accuracy meter.
- The mod has been tested extensively locally and with regression simulations, but the full catalogue has not been verified live. Please report mismatches.
Saves and updates
Progress is stored by ReSkate in the plugin's own storage. Keep backups before changing the plugin folder name or resetting progression; different folder/team names can create a different save location.
Install only one copy of this mod. If you used a private test build, back up its storage and remove or disable the old copy before installing this package. The public archive does not perform private-build save migration.
To restart: Insert → Realistic Progression → RESET PROGRESSION → CONFIRM RESET. The mod backs up the previous career in its storage before resetting.
Reporting alpha bugs
Include the mod/ReSkate versions, current lesson, exact game HUD trick name, stance and FS/BS direction, Learning setting, and a short clip if possible. Include the relevant ReSkate plugin log lines around the attempt. Remove personal information before sharing logs.
Thank you for playing. I hope you enjoy!
