Artifact of Indecision

Artifact of Indecision is a more restrained alternative to the Artifact of Command.

Instead of allowing you to choose from every valid item of a given tier, item drops become Command-style essences containing only a small random selection of valid same-tier items.

Features

  • Adds a new selectable artifact: Artifact of Indecision.
  • Uses the game's normal Command option generation, preserving compatibility with vanilla and modded item tiers.
  • Works with custom tiers such as Bubbet's Items Void Lunar items.
  • Multiplayer tested.
  • The number of choices is configurable.
  • If Artifact of Command and Artifact of Indecision are enabled together, normal Command takes priority.
  • 3D Printers and three-choice Multishop Terminals are removed from stage generation while Indecision is active so they cannot undermine the artifact with free rerolls.
  • Native special choice systems are otherwise left alone.

Default choice distribution

By default, each essence rolls:

  • 3 choices: 40%
  • 4 choices: 30%
  • 5 choices: 20%
  • 6 choices: 10%

This gives an average of four options per essence.

Configuration

After launching the game once with the mod installed, edit the generated BepInEx config.

The choice distribution uses this format:

[Choice Count]
ChoiceDistribution = 3:40, 4:30, 5:20, 6:10

Each entry is written as:

number_of_choices:weight

The weights are normalized automatically, so they do not need to total 100.

Examples:

ChoiceDistribution = 4:1

Always offers four choices.

ChoiceDistribution = 2:50, 6:50

Offers either two or six choices with equal probability.

ChoiceDistribution = 3:95, 10:5

Usually offers three choices, with a small chance of ten.

If fewer valid items exist than the rolled number, all available valid items are shown.

Compatibility

Artifact of Indecision lets vanilla Command build the valid option list first and then restricts that list. This avoids hard-coding vanilla item tiers and allows compatible modded tiers to work naturally.
