MICRO-GAMER

Fight through fourteen desktop microgames as an invisible cursor survivor. Play solo or with friends while ordinary survivors keep their usual gameplay.

How to play

Choose ATTACK, SUPPORT, INTERACT, E-SHOP, DEPLOY or BROWSE between encounters. Your camera moves to the selected target. Read the short prompt, then complete the microgame using the controls shown. A win defeats an ordinary enemy. Boss attacks require three consecutive microgames: all three must succeed to deal one hit. A failure costs one Integrity; reaching zero kills you.

  • Start with three Integrity. Finish a normal, non-final stage without losing any to gain one maximum Integrity and fill that new point. Maximum Integrity is capped at ten.
  • Offensive items affect successful hits and their item effects. Defensive and self-healing items do not protect or restore Integrity, except Tougher Times, which can block losses. Dio's Best Friend and Pluripotent Larva can revive you. Equipment activation is disabled; Executive Card keeps its normal purchase benefits.
  • When you are the only living player, damaging a boss permanently prevents it from healing.
  • Purchased item drops and your share of boss rewards go directly into your inventory. Multi-shops offer all three terminals. Health-cost interactables charge gold equal to a normal chest instead.
  • SUPPORT offers FULL HEAL, GIVE ITEM and REBOOT. Full Heal requires a microgame win; losing costs Integrity. Give Item shows your items with icons. Reboot revives a dead teammate for one maximum Integrity.
  • In multiplayer, you die when all other players are dead and have no revival pending. Solo play remains independent. Death briefly displays a fading Windows blue screen.

Controls

Use the cursor for selections. Movement games use the keys listed below. Each microgame also displays its controls before starting.

Game Goal Controls
Taipei Match identical exposed tiles. Cursor
Tetris Clear a row. A/D move, Q/E rotate, S soft drop, W hard drop
Tut's Tomb Pick two exposed cards totaling thirteen. Cursor
TetraVex Fill the gap with a tile matching its neighbors. Cursor
SkiFree Dodge five tree gates. A/Q left, D/E right, or lane buttons
Pipe Dream Choose the missing pipe to complete the route. Cursor
Rodent's Revenge Push the box to trap the cat. WASD, Q/E left/right, or direction buttons
Minesweeper Use the clues to select the safe covered square. Cursor
Chip's Challenge Collect the key and reach the exit. WASD or Q/E left/right
Golf Clear three cards one rank above or below the waste card. Cursor
Dr. Black Jack Beat the dealer without busting; the next card is visible. Cursor
3D Pinball: Space Cadet Bounce the ball with the correct flipper. A/Q left, D/E right, or flipper buttons
Windows 98 Open Start and launch Risk of Rain 2. Cursor
Paint Select the bucket, choose the named color and fill the canvas. Cursor

These are short adaptations rather than the full original games. Harder difficulties shorten puzzle timers and speed up movement games. Difficulty also increases as the run progresses.

The fast-forward button beside Integrity toggles faster transitions and immediate results; it does not speed up active games or shorten decision timers. Hold Tab to show the ordinary HUD and hide MICRO-GAMER's interface. The interface stays visible when the game loses focus, with input disabled until you return. Native selection panels, including Scrappers and Command, remain available. F2 toggles exploration: move with WASD/Q/E and look by dragging the right mouse button.

Encounters and progression

The action menu waits for your choice; encounters no longer advance automatically.

  • ATTACK: Choose BOSS or ENEMY when a boss is alive. Otherwise, Enemy starts directly. Enemies are selected across the stage, prioritizing active Void Seed monsters, healing elites, other elites and normal enemies.
  • SUPPORT: Choose another player, including fallen players. This action is unavailable when no other players are present. Reboot requires another teammate to remain alive under the team-wipe rule.
  • INTERACT: Browse CHEST, ITEM, TELEPORT, SHRINE or DRONE lists. Chests list money capsules first, followed by normal chests, multi-shops, large chests and other item-reward objects, including Shrines of Chance, printers and Scrappers. Selecting a chest entry purchases immediately if you can afford it. Adaptive chests keep the camera above the chest after purchase; press STOP! at the bottom of the screen to choose the displayed reward. Multi-shop terminals appear individually, and known item names appear on shop, bud and printer entries. Item lists put multi-choice pickups first, then yellow, red, green, white and equipment, followed by temporary and ethereal items in the same rarity order. Teleport includes teleporters, exit portals and event progress prompts. Starting a teleporter requires ten successful fights that stage; the list shows your counter. Completed boss sequences count once, and E-SHOP visits do not reset this counter. Other survivors can start teleporters normally. Lunar Seer entries show their assigned destination stage. Drone contains drone and sentry purchases. Shrine contains remaining useful interactables and excludes movement devices.
  • E-SHOP: Unlock a shop visit with five successful Attack actions. Visiting resets the counter. E-SHOP is disabled in the Bazaar and other noncombat realms; earned progress is preserved. A completed boss sequence counts as one action; support games and kills caused by item effects do not add extra credit.
  • DEPLOY: Walk as ghost MUL-T with movement-item speed, sprinting and extra jumps. Aim and press Primary to attack an enemy through microgames or use a nearby interactable. Purchases check affordability, and native choice panels still open. The normal Interact binding (E by default) also works. Special returns to cursor mode; Secondary and Utility have no effect. After an attack, you return to MUL-T at the same location. Deployment resets on stage changes or revival.
  • BROWSE: Open a Windows 98 Internet Explorer-style browser. MICRO-NET links to an E-SHOP, ebayzaar, Bank of Aurelionite, DRONES-R-US, Desktop Depot, a survivor field guide and a microgame library. Back, Forward, Home, Refresh, Favorites and scrolling work within these built-in sites. The E-SHOP site follows the normal five-attack unlock and stage restrictions. These are in-game pages; no internet connection is needed. Compact browser controls leave more room for the page.

Living MICRO-GAMERs count as nearby for teleporters, cells, moon pillars and Halcyon shrines. Enemies normally ignore you. PROGRESS? prompts let you accept entry into supported event areas. Ordinary teammates must still enter when an event requires everyone. Some custom events from other mods may need additional support.

Choice panels fit their option rows and sit at the bottom of the screen. Empty categories are grayed out. Unaffordable purchases remain listed with disabled buttons and visible costs.

Desktop Depot is temporarily covered by a COMING SOON page. Its cursors, toolbars, antivirus software and bonuses are planned for later.

Bank of Aurelionite manages gold in two accounts. DEBIT carries money between stages of the current run, resetting when that run ends. Move gold between your wallet and DEBIT at 1:1. OFF-SHORE carries money between runs; withdrawals move to DEBIT at 1:1. Depositing into OFF-SHORE from your wallet or DEBIT costs $100 per dollar stored initially. Each $100 balance band compounds the previous rate by 10%, rounded up: $100, $110, $121, $134, $148, and so on. Deposits crossing a band use each band's rate. Enter the amount to receive and review the total cost before confirming. Lunar and Void currency are unchanged.

OFF-SHORE is an offline save on each player's own computer, tied to their local RoR2 profile. It follows that player into different hosts' lobbies and survives mod updates. Saves and a previous-file backup live in MicroGamer/Bank under the game's persistent save directory, outside the mod installation. Copy that folder when moving computers; there is no external banking service or automatic cross-device sync. Pending transfers reserve funds while the player's save commits; delayed acknowledgments retry without applying the transfer twice.

World objects and the action-menu E-SHOP use wallet gold. Website purchases use DEBIT, and website earnings go to DEBIT, including ebayzaar sales and Corrupted Bonzi payouts reached through BROWSE. OFF-SHORE cannot pay for purchases.

DRONES-R-US offers a Gunner Drone plus three different random drone types each stage. Each costs three times its normal repair price for that stage, paid from DEBIT. Deliveries belong to the purchaser and use native drone ownership and team limits. Reopening the site does not reroll stock; listings can be purchased repeatedly while affordable.

ebayzaar has two sections. BUYING lists 10–20 buyers per stage who pay DEBIT for one of your items. SELLING lists 1–5 items you can purchase with DEBIT directly into your inventory. Each offer can be completed once; reopening the site or reviving preserves its stock. New stages generate new listings. Prices use that stage's normal chest cost: white items cost 0.5–3x, green 1–5x, and legendary or yellow items 1.5–20x. Both sections show the item icon, name, price and your owned count. Search item names or use the rarity categories to narrow the listings.

Non-chest interactable and shop offers allow 25 seconds by default. Choose Continue, or let the timer expire, to move on without penalty.

Shops and Clippy

Each scheduled shop visit has a 94% chance of normal BonziBUDDY, 5% Clippy and 1% Corrupted BonziBUDDY.

Shopkeeper Offers
BonziBUDDY Heal one Integrity for a normal chest's price. Buy one maximum Integrity, also healing one, for twice a large chest's price. The maximum upgrade is available once per stage.
Clippy Trade one maximum Integrity for a Paper Clip, adding one slot for hidden microgames. Maximum Integrity cannot fall below one.
Corrupted BonziBUDDY Buy 1–3 maximum Integrity, healing the added points, for 0.2–2 times normal Bonzi's upgrade price. Alternatively, pay one Integrity for gold worth 0.2–2 large chests. Offers reroll on arrival and after each purchase. Paying Integrity can kill you.

All prices scale with the stage. Upgrades cannot exceed ten maximum Integrity.

After an Integrity loss, Clippy offers to hide that failed microgame for the rest of your run. Click OK to accept. You begin with one filing slot; Paper Clips add more. At capacity, filing a new game releases the oldest hidden game. At least two microgames always remain available.

Bonzi displays and plays one of eight bundled quotes per visit, without consecutive repeats. Corrupted Bonzi plays overlapping, interrupted fragments. All audio works offline; no online speech service is used.

Installation and configuration

Install with r2modman or Thunderstore Mod Manager to include the required dependencies. All multiplayer players need the same mod version. For manual installation, install the dependencies listed in the manifest, then copy the ZIP's plugins folder into BepInEx.

The mod's BepInEx configuration controls starting Integrity, microgame time and interaction time on the host. BonziSpeechVolume and FeedbackVolume control local speech and sound cues separately from the game's volume sliders. Bundled audio uses Windows/Wine playback.

Artwork includes assets from Microsoft's desktop games, Clippy and BonziBUDDY, plus the supplied MICRO-GAMER logo.

Menu font: MS Sans Serif 1 by CTFonts, rendered from the supplied FontStruct font. Font license included in the package.
