Cocoa Final Boss
A house-sized Maltese Shih Tzu final boss on a floating island. Find the Golden Bone on stage 5, charge the teleporter and take the golden portal - or press Fight Cocoa on the main menu.Cocoa Final Boss
A new final boss for Risk of Rain 2: Cocoa, a house-sized Maltese Shih Tzu, waiting on a floating island high above Corona del Mar beach. He's not angry. He just really, really wants your attention.
How to reach Cocoa in a normal run
- Play a run as usual until stage 5: the last stage before the Moon (Sky Meadow or Helminth Hatchery).
- Find the Golden Bone. When stage 5 starts, the chat says "Something golden glints somewhere on this stage...". A glowing, spinning Golden Bone has spawned somewhere out in the open, away from the teleporter. It glows gold, shows up on the scanner, and is highlighted when you get close.
- Pick it up by walking up to it and pressing Interact. The chat confirms who found it.
- Charge the teleporter as normal.
- Take the golden portal. Once the teleporter is charged, a golden portal with Cocoa's picture in it opens next to it, alongside the normal exit. If you find the bone after charging the teleporter, the portal opens right away. Step in to travel to Cocoa's Island.
- After you win, two portals open: one continues the run, the other ends the run as a victory.
No Golden Bone, no golden portal. Want the portal on every stage-5 visit without the bone, on a different stage, or only on the first loop? Change it in the config.
The quick way: Fight Cocoa
Press Fight Cocoa on the main menu:
- Pick up to 50 items: click an icon to add it, right-click (or Shift+click) to remove it, or press Random.
- Choose your survivor.
You go straight to Cocoa's Island on Monsoon, with the difficulty timer already at HAHAHAHA. Your last item pick is remembered.
Tips (no big spoilers)
- Barking hurts everyone on the map. Grab one of the glowing dog treats or run up to him and Pet him to make him stop.
- Watch the warnings. Red lines, glowing rings and drawn dash paths always come before his big attacks, and every one of them can be dodged.
- Use the rock pillars when his eyes start to glow.
- When he grabs someone, a teammate can Discombobulate him.
- The fight has many phases, and it doesn't end where you think it does. Bring friends.
The reward: No Fear (boss item)
Gain +3% damage for every second you stay in combat, up to 20 stacks (+10 stacks per extra copy). Resets when you leave combat.
