Wetland Rooftops
Explore an ancient rooftop civilization above Wetland Aspect: foggy morning light, giant trees, hanging bridges, floating groves, and glowing Heartwood. An alternate second stage. Made with Codex / ChatGPT.Wetland Rooftops
An ancient rooftop civilization above the mire of Wetland Aspect, lit by a foggy morning.
Explore an abandoned village built around luminous Heartwood: jade-roofed longhouses, old slate courts, hanging bridges, warm lanterns, drifting minerals, and floating groves among immense wetland trees. Pale daylight and layered mist reveal the village while the giant crowns disappear into cloud.
Wetland Rooftops is an alternate second stage. The original Wetland Aspect remains available.
Explore the canopy
- Six broad courts linked by a circular bridge route and three central spokes.
- Curved suspension bridges with physical planks, hand ropes, and supporting cables.
- A tilted, levitating Arrival Bough with three broken bridge approaches and real jump gaps.
- An optional loop of eight jumpable floating stones around Market Bough.
- Detached root islands, alien plants, weathered longhouses, and branch-hung amber and jade lanterns.
- A wind lift connecting Market Bough and Lantern Orchard.
- Native enemy encounters, loot, teleporter progression, fall recovery, a Newt altar, and an environment log with a village diorama.
Installation
Install through r2modman or Thunderstore Mod Manager and allow the listed dependencies to install. Restart the game after adding or updating the mod.
For manual installation, install the dependencies first, then copy the entire plugins/WetlandRooftops folder into BepInEx/plugins. Keep the DLL, scene, mesh, art bundle, layout, and textures together.
The stage can appear in the normal second-stage pool, including later loops. To visit immediately during an active run, open the developer console with Ctrl+Alt+` and enter:
wrt_go
The travel command must be run by the host. Natural stage selection can be disabled with NaturalStageSelection in BepInEx/config/local.wetlandrooftops.cfg after the first launch.
Multiplayer
All players need the same version of this mod and its dependencies. Local host progression has been tested; remote multiplayer has not yet been verified.
Version 0.11.0: foggy morning
Cloud-filtered daylight, diffuse sage skylight, soft shadows, pale mountain haze, and lower lantern spill give the ancient village a damp morning atmosphere. The upper cloud bank conceals the giant crowns and blends softly into the horizon. The village layout, collision, and traversal remain unchanged.
Three lighting passes were reviewed across 33 close, distant, sideways, rear, aerial, and upward game-rendered views. All 336 native physics checks passed. Isolated host tests exercised fall recovery, the wind lift, boss spawning, teleporter charging, and stage exit.
This is an early release. Performance in large mod profiles, every survivor and mod combination, and remote multiplayer need further playtesting. The hidden marsh below the cloud sea is scenery; falling uses native stage recovery.

Created with Codex / ChatGPT, including original generated textures and authored procedural geometry, shaders, and stage code. Marked AI Generated.
Risk of Rain 2's native music, encounter pools, enemies, interactables, and selected foliage are loaded from the installed game at runtime. No base-game assets or dependency DLLs are bundled. R2API and the Risk of Thunder stage-authoring documentation support the stage integration.
