Install
Mod managers
Install Sailwind Drop Safety through r2modman or Thunderstore Mod Manager, then launch Sailwind through your manager. Dependencies are installed automatically.
Manual installation
- Install BepInEx 5 in your Sailwind game folder, following its installation instructions.
- Download and extract the Drop Safety ZIP. Copy its
BepInEx/plugins/DropSafetyfolder intoBepInEx/pluginsin your Sailwind folder. - Launch Sailwind normally.
How it works
Drop Safety disables dropping items, only allowing items to be dropped by using the Throw key. Optionally, enable the RequireModifier option in the config and dropping will only happen when you hold the modifier key. Placing items on tables, shelves, hooks, etc., and placing wall-mounted items both work normally.
Configuration
After the first launch, close the game and edit BepInEx/config/com.skeptic043.sailwind.dropsafety.cfg. This is inside your mod manager profile, or your Sailwind folder for a manual installation. Changes made in-game through Configuration Manager apply straight away.

Type ModifierKey as a single key name, such as LeftAlt, RightControl, Mouse3 or JoystickButton4. Key names ignore capitalization and spaces, so left alt works too. Leave it blank or use None to turn it off. Unsupported values stay in the file and produce a warning in the log. The modifier then counts as never held until corrected.
Compatibility
Tested on Sailwind patch 0.39 with BepInEx 5.4.23. No known incompatibilities.
